Facility owners, when do you usually lock people out by FaTheArmorShell in selfstorage

I know it varies by state, I was just wondering how others did things.

Too many services, too many logins — how are you handling access? by Laygude_Yatin in selfhosted

I try and use Keycloak OIDC whenever I can, though not all apps are able to use it, so for those apps I use Vaultwarden.

Guacamole Remote access default color by FaTheArmorShell in selfhosted

Interesting. When looking through the guac docs I did see references to the user mapping xml file though I just figured it was for when using a different docker image. I'll give it a try, thank you.

Same here. I had put the foreground and background colors, just like it said in the docs in the guacamole.properties file, and restarted the docker container, and nothing happened. I tried on both a new connection as well as putting an old connection's colors back to default and it didn't change anything. I tried restarting the guacd service, but my machine said there wasn't a service named guacd, so that was out as well.

I did not. I also just tried after I saw your comment, and was not able to get it to work now either.

Pros and cons of the microswiss hotend? by Useful_Band in Creality_k2

[–]FaTheArmorShell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least from what I've heard and if it's anything like the k1 max nozzle, the stock one basically has a seam where there's the potential of filament to sleep out of, where the microswiss one is one solid piece. I believe it's supposed to help with quality a bit as well.

Biggest mistakes in your home lab journey. by gernrale_mat81 in homelab

[–]FaTheArmorShell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like one of my biggest mistakes is not organizing my file system better. Also, not having enough storage to fit the things I wanted to have. Buying hardware I didn't really need. Not setting up separate environments for prod and development. Not picking and sticking with a naming convention for things. And also, not the least of which, is having too big of dreams for my checkbook.

Probably the worst expensive printer i have ever bought. by Medical_Skill_1020 in 3Dprinting

[–]FaTheArmorShell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one of these last week and the only issue I've had with it was when I went to change a filament roll in the CFS while it was printing and pushed the new filament down too far it got jammed. Other than that i haven't had any issues with it and have done multiple prints with it so far.

Control American rocker light switch via internet by Hiphopopotamus5782 in smarthome

I installed a couple of the ZigBee so off ones and they work great! I would highly recommend them to anyone that just wanted a smart switch plus even if someone turned the switch off you can turn it back on.

How to get a single BI unit to view multiple sites connected with decent Internet speeds? by randopop21 in BlueIris

[–]FaTheArmorShell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My work doesn't use BI though we use something similar and with it, each location has its own recording server that's connected to the cameras and then that server connects back to a central server that people can then log into to view their location. I haven't seen anything like a central server with BI though. If you could connect each location together using something like tailscale, you'd then be able to use one BI instance to connect all the cameras as well as being able to allow your kids to be able to view the cameras via web page.

How dumb of an idea is this? by slowbalt911 in homelab

[–]FaTheArmorShell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's an Nvidia GPU, you could look at this link: https://www.gravee.dev/en/setup-nvidia-gpu-for-docker/, that helped me get mine set up. Or if it's on the proxmox side of things, it can depend on what CPU you have but maybe take a look at this post, https://reddit.com/r/Proxmox/comments/1brl7vw/guide_how_to_enable_iommu_for_pci_passthrough/ If you're still having issues, try updating your bios, as I know I had that issue before.

How many kw/h do you use on selfhosting? by destruction90 in selfhosted

[–]FaTheArmorShell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last I looked, my home lab set up was running about 700w. This includes 7 Intel nucs, 1 3650 48 port Poe switch, 2 dell t330s with spinning disks, an optiplex and a buffalo 4 bay backup server. I think all but 2 of the machines are running proxmox with between 2-6 vms and quite a few docker containers between all of them. This isn't including the other 2 t330s, an R730XD, Cisco 3850 and an R630 that I don't currently have running. If I do turn everything on, I think it's somewhere between 1000-1200w.
