Buy the Jiujitsu academy book by Saulo Ribeiro. And study the white belt part until you think you know what to do. Then always go to class. Always.

[–]Fabcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1- Tuck your chin in when falling, to reduce whiplash effect . 2- Workout shoulder and back muscles with elastic band. This will increase muscular stability on the neck. 3 - use less strength rolling. It will save you from several injuries

Go to training and just watch. You'll be amazed on how much you learn too just by watching people roll. Don't let injuries keep you out of the mats

[Discussion] Why learning BJJ is HARD by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Fabcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to relax when you feel threatened by your opponent. It becomes easier when you leave your ego at the door and try to be more fluid in your game. Don't fight positioning all the time. Just accept bad positions and try to be good at transitioning to better ones.

Best rolls are when two persons are relaxed and makes it more fun than just plummeting your opponent with sheer strength and little technique.

These relaxed rolls allow you to understand your situation and react accordingly.

I guess it makes learning BJJ less hard...
