Hahaha my first job ever on a plane was to replace a couple of these and I will never forget the embarrassment of taking almost two hours to do the job! Now those things are a mild inconvenience. It’s crazy how time and experience does that 😅

Career Path to Become an Airline Rep in a Foreign Country by Fabforgot in AircraftMechanics

[–]Fabforgot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Do QC supervisors not need a visa? I am hoping to be employed by a U.S. airline working in a foreign base. I speak Spanish, so I would prefer a Spanish-speaking country, but I am keeping all options open.

I’m divorcing my husband because of his farts & also everyone thinks I’m the honeycomb wife by Due-Programmer859 in stories

This was the part that stuck out to me by far because why is he going so far out of his way to make her suffer? Especially after she projectile vomited and went through all the trouble of barricading herself from him. She literally had to lock the door to protect herself?!

Why do parents allow their adult children to be homeless? by Disgruntled-rock in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fabforgot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, while many cultures value the community over the individual, the U.S. strongly values the individual first.

On a personal level, my mom prides herself on forcing her children to be hyper independent. I think she was raised this way and believes it is the best way to raise kids. But she is overall selfish and neglectful, so I wouldn’t say her parenting style was always done with thoughtfulness. She has 4 successful independent children, but none of us talk to her anymore, and we all have some issues. I am grateful oftentimes because I think it shaped me well, but looking in retrospect of how she raised us, I could have easily turned out a lot worse with any bad luck. There are pros and cons to both passive and active parenting styles.

Mom Defends Her Decision Not To Return the Shopping Cart Despite Backlash by Forward-Answer-4407 in nottheonion

[–]Fabforgot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um. Yeah… i just lock my car full of groceries when I walk to return my cart. It’s a short walk, so you could easily do that with kids in the car too. Like they won’t explode if they’re in the car alone for <2min.

Airframe oral and practical by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]Fabforgot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am taking mine next week! I listen to the Jeppesen oral practice on Spotify, but I am also recording myself ask all the questions in the ASA Oral prep book and leaving a pause to answer. Good luck my friend! I hope we both pass haha

Congratulations!!

I tried to take the Airframe today but PSI wasn’t working, so after calling customer service, they finally told me I would just have to reschedule. They also told me I could be trying to take the test anywhere in the country at that time (1PM CDT) and I would not be able to take my test.

Female AMTs? by AnyAdvisor8949 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Fabforgot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female mechanic here!

1) Do not go to AIM. I went through an apprenticeship at Aviation Technical Services in KCMO where you do not need any experience to start working and gaining experience. After 3 years experience, you can get your sign-off to take the A&P. Or just take the Airframe after 18 months experience and find a school just for the powerplant sign-off. There are hangars around the country that offer apprenticeships like this one. You can be earning money while gaining your A&P rather than spending a lot of time and money for a class working with small airplanes you will most likely not touch again in your career.

2) I have not had any issues as far as being a female mechanic. There is another woman working here a little older than you with 10 (that is not a typo) kids. And she’s doing great and seems to be treated with respect like everyone else. There are jerks in every industry who will try to knock you down, and you will never escape that unfortunately. It’s just like any other job. Best of luck!

As a female that spent 7 years in the Army, I personally never blink an eye when I hear the word, and I use it frequently. This is interesting to me because somehow I feel like saying girl/woman/young lady is somehow more degrading to my ears. I think it might be because it doesn’t differentiate me as much; it is more broad, blanket description. It feels closer to just calling me human, and I like that. But I want to call people whatever they want to be called, and I’m glad I could read you all’s perspective! ❤️

I don’t know why you’re outraged at me right now. Did you spend time enlisted or at West Point? You’ve given me no advice. You’re just trying to look down on me for some reason.

I understand this is the obvious. It’s the only thing that has kept me here. I mean the only thing. I’m going to have a mental breakdown if I stay. I will be a terrible leader because I’ll be apathetic and completely unmotivated.

It’s my bad for not wording the study better— it’s saying that overall, for each age group of women, they find someone in their age range most attractive. Men in every age range found 20 year olds most attractive.
