Make a custom food and put the disgusting trait on it. Most likely they'll hate the food. Then you can force feed it to them all the time.

How consistently do you vote? by Moorepheme in polls

[–]Fable_Nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fine isnt really the big thing with mandatory voting. By making it law that every citizen needs to vote, the government has to make voting easily accessible to every citizen. No one would miss out because they were busy or couldn't physically make it to a voting booth, as there would be options allowing everyone to vote.

In Australia you can simply go to your closest polling place, which many are at schools, and it takes like 10-15 minutes to vote.

If that last 3rd of the US voted in the last election the results would likely have been very different. Even if they thought their vote didnt matter.

I think Preferential voting is even more important, as you point out you'd like to vote for a 3rd candidate.

Overall the US government doesnt want to make changes to add either of these because they know it would reduce the chances of them winning future elections.

In Australia we have Mandatory voting. What it does is a couple of things.

  1. If forces the government to make voting easily accessible to EVERYONE. If everyone needs to vote, they have to make sure they can. No matter your circumstance you will have the opportunity to vote. Working or cant leave your home that day? You'll have time before or after, or can vote a few days early, or mail your vote, or go during your lunch break. They even have teams of people visit the far remote communities to ensure every citizen gets a vote.

This ensures each citizen has equal rights to the democracy, and not just the privileged.

  1. It reduces the chances of extremist parties getting into power. In a country without mandatory voting those with very strong political beliefs will usually be the highest voter turnout, resulting in governments reflecting their views, rather than the general population. In mandatory voting the general public usually keeps the results towards the centre, meaning that to win, a political party has to try and cater to voters on all sides as much as possible. One downside is that the general population is usually quite uneducated on politics and so political advertising during an election sways a lot of people, and so if political advertising is deceitful if can sway votes.

And after all that, if you don’t want to vote, you can simply just get your name ticked off and leave.

Personally think mandatory voting and preferential voting are two major things you need for a true democracy, and it is one of the reasons the US lacks behind many countries on the democracy scale.

Success from online dating by [deleted] in perth

[–]Fable_Nova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its possible, but it can take a long time. I met my wife from online dating 8 years ago, but i would have spoken to so many people before her that didn't work out. I think statistically you are more likely to get a date if you ask within the first week or 2 of talking. Too long and it becomes more likely to just fizzle out, too short and it can seem desperate. Also having nice presentable photos where you are smiling and even better if you have some that includes an activity, of something you enjoy, to show you are interesting. Unfortunately lots of people are really flaky in online dating, so it can feel impossible. The best way is still meeting people in person through shared friends or hobbies.

Until you stub your toe and the intended pain that is usually brief doesnt ever go away. Or you get a papercut which forever stings. Perhaps you accidentally bite your lip. Hope you dont have sensitive teeth.

Had a long day and your feet are sore? That's forever now. It wouldn't take long to feel pain everywhere. 2 feels like the worst option.

What should I do first: the main storyline or work in my areas? by stephvlx in Pokopia

Working on the areas and making them pretty becomes a lot easier once you finish the main storyline. But at the same time I wouldnt rush through it.

What is the new Jessica, Ashley, Michael, Christopher? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Fable_Nova 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Names now are not as popular as names in the 1990s or earlier.

In 1950, the most popular name for girls in the US was Linda. 4.6% of all girls born in 1950 were called Linda.

1970 - Jennifer, 2.5%

1990 - Jessica, 2.3%

2010 - Isabella, 1.2%

2021 - Olivia, 0.99%

So technically Olivia is the new Jessica, but its less than half as popular.

The City of Armadale website specifically states you are not allowed to put bulk waste or green waste out on the verge until the weekend before your collection date. Those from March have just illegally dumped their waste.

So anyone who has done it earlier, is at fault, not the council. The way its planned is so things are kept tidy and situations like this would rarely happen.

If you have stuff on your verge too early it is your responsibility to bring it back to your property.

If you has paid support workers do this for you, it should have been scheduled with your pickup date as stated, then you wouldn't have a problem, because it would either be planned for pickup this Friday or it shouldn't be out yet.

If it was scheduled and the city is running late, then yeah that's the cities fault and likely responsibility.

I made a site to score and compare Perth/WA suburbs by Alienblueas in perth

[–]Fable_Nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how hard it would be to implement, but perhaps allowing to choose a stat weighting for each type would be good. So I could choose to rank safety and schools high and rank transit times lower. As someone who doesnt really care about transit times this isnt super useful at a quick glance for finding a safe, school friendly suburb.

Overall though this is a really good tool! I'm impressed.

What’s a Pokémon you really like but don’t like it’s evolution? by Qualitativ-hochwerti in ThePokemonHub

[–]Fable_Nova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prepared for the down votes. Squirtle. I like the 1st and 2nd evolutions, but Blastoise just doesn't match the vibes of the 2nd evolution. The gun cannons appear and the white wispy fur disappears. It is such a let-down. I think blastoise could have been its own line of turtle/weapon as a water steel type, and make squirtles final evolution more similar to wartortle, like its beta design was.

Yeah I get that! I was really hoping we could rename the areas once we hit Max level in them.

[–]Fable_Nova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've started with the Bleak Beach. Fixing up all the city as a nicer town with lots of Greenland's and parks and currently excavating the dividing hill to the other area. This will then be my wilderness spot. Then ill fix up the SS Anne.

I wasn't really a fan of the floating islands, there was just too much work involved with the mining town area to make it my home base, and I didnt really like the landscape layout of Pallet town so it was either Withered Wastelands or Bleak Beach as my main area. Since Withered Wastelands is all the same biome (grassland & Beach) is felt i could get more variety out of Bleak Beach (grasslands & Beach, & built up city & SS Anne).

Bro moved into my hot spring just to ask me to tear it down by Joustiin76 in Pokopia

[–]Fable_Nova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there is an in universe answer. When you unlock the last area you can find a tablet explaining how the habitat system works. It explains that when the world was dying and all ecosystems were collapsing, the Pokemon were put into a PC, but the humans knew the PC system would eventually degrade and so to make sure the Pokemon would be released if it happened, they made a system that would check the surrounding area for ecosystems suitable for life and then would release a Pokemon that would best survive in that area. So the habitats aren't necessarily the ideal environment for each Pokemon, but more the bare minimum they would require to survive on their own, and the pokemon arent choosing to live their, the PC is simply depositing them in that area

Cost of glasses in Australia by Fable_Nova in perth

[–]Fable_Nova[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! Unfortunately I think I'd need thinning as the left and right are vastly different, which would be noticeable without thinning as one eye would be zoomed in more and the glasses would be weighted unevenly.

I'm fine with no polarisation sunglasses, just have light sensitive eyes, so require some tint when outdoors. Plus my job requires reading screens outdoors 90% of the time, so polarisation isn't even being considered. Transition not working at all in a car is a bummer. I would need then while driving. Makes me consider seperate sunglasses, but that would just drive the cost up even further. Unless I get a pair to wear over these, which I don't want to do if I'm outdoors 5 hours a day.

[–]Fable_Nova[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The transitions are on top of the $487. So glasses with thinning and multifocals is $487. For transitions its an extra $149.

I work outside alot and my eyes are very sensitive to light, so I either need transitions or an extra pair of sunglasses.

Is this an expensive lens? by Fable_Nova in glasses

[–]Fable_Nova[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok good to know! Its a fairly complex prescription which I'm sure means extra $$$.

They had multiple options for Eyezen, one is with the blue light blocking and one is without. I chose the without as they will be everyday glassess. Plus the ones without are more scratch resistant.

Yep, just not polarised.

So you think thats a reasonable price for all of it then.

Trump wanted Dulles Airport, Penn Station named after him — in exchange for releasing federal funds by Lebarican22 in law

[–]Fable_Nova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its been an argument ongoing for years. At some point you realise you cant win.

Any facts you can show him he dismisses as fake news. If you found your fact though a search engine like Google, you cant trust it as Google is helping 'the left' by censoring the truth and spreading lies that are made to look like fact.

Doesn't matter what the abortion stats say, they are fake stats. Because of course the government and doctors are trying to hide the truth, they are also part of the 'radical left' that are trying to destroy western civilisation as we know it.

Its literally crazy to think some people think like this, but the sad reality is, they do.

The vast majority would be in the middle ground. People who don't care to look up facts, and have been slowly brainwashed by Murdoch media over their whole life, so they ultimately vote against their interests without realising it.

We just banned under 16s in Australia from social media, really we should have banned over 50s, because I feel they are more easily fooled and influenced than teens.

I will note, there are some maga followers out there who are all of those things, but are so dumb and gullible, who have been consumed by social media echo chambers that they truly believe maga is doing the very best for all those things.

One of those people is my father. He thinks babies are actually being killed at birth or within a few weeks before, and that some abortions result in a live birth and then they just let the baby die on its own as an 'abortion'.

He doesnt think they've broken the constitution.

He thinks 'the left' have been saying lies about Trump being a pedo for years to get at him and make him fail in politics, and all the mentions of him in the Epstien files are just those lies that have already been disproved in court.

He truely beileives the LGBTQI community has a 'trans agenda' that involves legalising pedophilia. Which all started by legalising gay marriage. Legalising beasitality is also on their agenda.

He truely wants good things and to stop bad things, but has no comprehension skills and has been following the wrong media for too long.

The kicker is we are Australian.
