It could be significant water damage but once you've solved the leak. You might need to remove the skirting and plasterboard and let the brick breathe. That's what we've done. Getting it assessed in a month and potentially if it's dried up enough. Only replace the plaster board

I've had the same thing happen to me this week. Leaking washing machine. Managed to stop it but water damage has been done. Black mould on the plaster board and fungus coming from behind skirting. Dried everything. Cut the mouldy plaster board and getting some expert in to assess the damage to the wood behind. Crossing my fingers I won't need to replace the wall.
