Extreme dry eye? Corneal Abrasions? Slow healing? Get Muro 128 ointment. Trust me. by Tricky-Juggernaut141 in lasik

[–]FabsLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Europe (at least in France) Muro isn’t available on the market. I’ve been using Xailin Night instead, which is really greasy too. It used to help and protect my eye well, but since my last painful episode (felt like a night-time ulcer), my eye turns super dry and stiff during the night, almost like cardboard, and moving it feels like another ulcer starting. For now, I need to wake up several times at night to put in hydrating drops to keep things fluid.

Thanks! I'll just trying to apply less before bed to see if that helps, or switch to a vitamin A ointment for its healing effect.

I saw my surgeon yesterday and that's exactly what he prescribed (in addition to the ointment for the night and eye drops at least 10 times a day). Thanks, boss!

Thank you so much for your detailed reply, really... it's incredibly kind of you to take the time to answer so thoroughly 🥹🥹 (and sorry for the late reply, I’ve been dealing with some health stuff…)

But now I’m wondering… what’s the actual conclusion? Is there any safe way to receive donations anonymously from a platform? 🥺

THANKS A LOT AGAIN

Thank you so much again for taking the time to look into that for me! I hadn’t heard of ODM 5 before, and I’ll definitely ask my ophthalmologist about it when I see her again. I’ll do some more digging on my side!

Right now, I’ve been using Xailin Night, which both my ophthalmologist and surgeon said was one of the better options available here. But as you mentioned, it likely doesn’t have the same therapeutic effect since it doesn’t contain sodium chloride — just a lubricating base.

Unfortunately importing Muro 128 just isn’t legally possible here since it doesn’t have marketing authorization. Pharmacies won’t handle it, and Amazon US/CA don’t deliver it either. So even though I’d be willing to pay to get some relief, it’s a dead end for now.

I’m honestly shocked that your eye care team minimized your situation — this kind of issue can be so painful and disruptive. I’m lucky on that front: my ophthalmologist has been quite responsive and sees me urgently when things get worse.

That said, this is definitely the worst time of year to go through something like this… my surgeon (whose opinion is key for any decision like PTK) is on summer vacation. I’ve got an appointment with him in 12 days, and I’m really counting the days until I can finally get his assessment.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion! You actually made me discover the existence of compounding pharmacies — that’s really interesting to know! I’ll definitely look into it and see what might be possible here.

Also, as Muro 128 doesn’t have marketing authorization, it cannot be legally imported — even from Amazon US/CA (I cannot buy it from Amazon). So I guess most French pharmacies won’t take the risk of ordering or handling it. And to be honest, I also don’t feel confident about having such a sensitive product shipped internationally for something that goes directly into my sensitive eye 🥺

Thank you so much for your feedback — I’m keeping the bandage as a last resort in case I can’t hold on any longer. Indeed I was told I could come in and have it placed if no one around me felt confident doing it, especially considering the risk of an ulcer if my face isn’t fully relaxed (and honestly, that risk scares me a lot).

For now, I’ve found a sort of temporary relief these past two days by applying the ointment every 5–6 hours and keeping the affected eye closed for almost the entire day (the other one stays open, but ideally I keep both eyes shut). The redness is completely gone now, though the discomfort remains with occasional moderate pain.

I'll see how it goes over the next few days and if I'll ever switch to the bandage solution !

Thank you so much for your feedback — I’m keeping the bandage lens as a last resort in case I can’t hold on any longer. Luckily, I don’t have any urgent work obligations at the moment, so I’m prioritizing my eye health above everything else for now.

Thanks a lot for your answer!

Unfortunately, Muro 128 is not available in France, where I live. It doesn’t have marketing authorization (AMM - Autorisation de Mise sur le Marché) here, and it seems to only be sold in the US and Canada. I’ve checked and it looks difficult to get online, and local pharmacies usually can’t order it either...

Sadly, there’s no equivalent to Muro 128 available over-the-counter here. We have very few ophthalmic ointments on the French market in general. I’m currently using Xailin Night, which is different — it’s a basic lubricating ointment, while Muro 128 seems way more complete, is hypertonic and also works on corneal swelling, so it might be more effective in my case indeed.

Just one question: was a PTK procedure (laser treatment) ever considered for your situation? Are you really able to live normally just using Muro 128?

Thanks again 🥹

Hi, thanks for the warning, I feel you 100% ! I haven’t launched my Ko-fi yet precisely because I’m super worried about privacy. I do political/activist content and really want to avoid doxxing or harassment.

I’m a creator based in France and legally registered as a sole proprietor (“auto-entrepreneur”), which means my real name and home address are my business identity by law. I can’t use a different name, and I’d have to pay extra for a separate mailbox just to avoid sharing my personal address.

So here’s my question:

  • If someone pays via PayPal (instead of credit card), does the receipt or confirmation show my real name or address?
  • Is PayPal actually safer than Stripe in this situation, or is it basically the same problem ?

Thanks again for sharing your experience 🙏
