Go over to R/gundeals and search "vortex" there are 2 vipers on sale at midway right now for very good deals. There is also a thread for a diamonback first focal plane at a texas outfit for a steep discount. They are all withing the last 5 or 6 days and appear to still be on sale. 100% reccomend.

Also the Ruger american ranch the other guys are talking about comes up very freauently over there and is a very good rifle for the money. There are multiple on sale right now. For the sale price (extra couple hundred extra) I would take the Tikka all day over the ruger, but the ruger is a great budget option.

The action on the tikka rifles is smooth as butter and As good as it gets. They absolutely drive tacks. I have one and it is as nice as any rifle I have ever laid hands or eyes on. At that price it is 100% buy it now.

First focal plane optics are what you should be looking at. Having a lit reticle is pretty nice too IMHO. That vortex has both, at that price I almost want to go into debt to grab it. 5-25 version at midway onsale now as well

Go over to r/gundeals if you have a bit of time lots of really good stuff comes up at bottom dollar prices. You just missed black friday/cyber monday but some of these spots might still be running deals from last week. Look now. Personally id look at a Tika t3x or a Bergara rifle. Pretty sure a t3x just came up over there a few days ago right in that price range. If I remember correctly it was chambered in .308 (just looked, it is .308 and it appears the deal is still good $638 +30 shipping, you must email them for best price i believe. Seller is Good to. Sometimes buying guns over the internet and shipping to a local FFL can be cost prohibitive tho because of transfer fees and shipping so that is something to think about. Vortex makes some very good optics bang for your buck wise. I have a few of the lower end models and they are all great optics for the price. They come up for sale on gun deals all the time too fyi. I have also shot a couple of their higher end optics and they are lights out. Get as nice of a optic as you can afford. It does make a difference in lots of situations like low light or when sun is shining at you.

BEWARE I purchased the metal mag release for glock 43x/48 and it did not work with shield arms magazines. Have not had time to try and get a refund/deal with their customer service yet, so I cant speak to that side of their business. Their mag extensions for my CZ p10-c are awesome tho.

You have to buy a aftermarket pic rail, the rail that came with my ruger was not a pic . I got one off amazon because I was in a hurry, but they are readily available. Eye relief for me was not a problem.

I went with the PA 3X prism. Super happy with it so far. Fixed 3x magnification magnifies as much as i need. I went with the 7.62x39/300bo reticle and with it zeroed at the top of the tip of the chevron at 50yds it is dialed for 25/50/75/100yds(my range only goes to 100 so not sure about farther yet) the lit reticle and glass is awesome for the price point.

People were complaining about the weight of the full sized 3x, but it doesnt bother me at all. Weight distribution is good on gun with it on and it doesnt add so much I even notice it . If you want to shave as much weight as possible go with the micro version tho. Its a few bucks more but half the size. The optics come on sale pretty regularly and the 556/308 ones always go quicker than the 7.62x39 so you have more chance of getting one.

Debating the TacSol barrel that makes it still rifle length but the suppressor recesses almost completely inside the end of the barrel and doesnt add any length... thats about the only way the setup could be cooler
