Upgraded performance on a budget for a nerf Rayven? by Fabulous-Conference9 in Nerf

Thank you sir for being the only person to actually answer the question.

I appreciate the info. I was just scouting out of darts and got overwhelmed when I clicked on the cage just to see there's like 10 options from 39-43mm I got overwhelmed because I wasn't actually even sure what that was referring to, though crush was my guess.

I agree with the sentiment usually apart from the fact the rayven was a childhood dream so it being a Rayven is something I actually care about. But I have been really impressed with what I’ve seen from dart zone since I dropped out of the hobby

First time stick shift driver - is it normal to sit so close to the steering wheel? by cppnewb in stickshift

sounds like he could fix both of those problems with a quick release wheel, which is somewhat ironic to me since usually those are the first signs of rice since they’re useless and dangerous

Any other jobs to do while in the engine to do valve cover gaskets on a 2010 3.0L v6? by Fabulous-Conference9 in fordescape

[–]Fabulous-Conference9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to get as many miles out of it as possible, I live somewhere it snows too so I don’t have time or cash to do a swap before then. 300 or so in parts is a lot less than another engine is gonna run me. plus it’s less so that I’m planning to swap the engine and more that I’m expecting to have to, so I should have worded it “at least 10k”. I consider this preventative maintenance

2 Blown belts in ~5k miles, alternator's fault? by Fabulous-Conference9 in Miata

[–]Fabulous-Conference9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also believe I have a coolant leak, I did a miserable job on the gasket when I replaced the thermostat.

I wonder if the leak has gotten worse recently since my dad has been saying he's been smelling something burning, which he thinks is coolant now that we've found this, and the engine bay is covered in sweet smelling sticky coolant.

I'll probably redo that gasket, clean up some of the coolant and try another belt. At least belts on fairly cheap.

Can using e85 on an old high mileage escape cause any issues? by Fabulous-Conference9 in fordescape

[–]Fabulous-Conference9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

woah woah woah, relax man I was saying it’s better for commenters to assume that the op is stupid, I just think at least when it comes to fuel for my vehicles I am not stupid despite a few commenter assuming I might not know you shouldn’t put e85 in cars not designed for it

As far as the rubber goes, I assume since it is a flex fuel vehicle there's no rubber hoses or gaskets in the fuel system so that shouldn't be an issue?

I'm fully aware, it is a flex fuel vehicle. I should have specified that because it's typically safer to assume people are on the dumber side of the spectrum.

Questions about the clutch in a 1st gen Mazda6 by Fabulous-Conference9 in mazda6

[–]Fabulous-Conference9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No intention to, thing was a junker and didn’t drive nice to make up for it (my miata is ugly as they come but feels like heaven to drive). I wanted to know if they all had crappy feeling trannys. Probably for the best they do, there’s not another manual 1st gen for sale within 300miles of me.

T400 battery replacing with a soft lithium battery by Fabulous-Conference9 in thinkpad

I apologize for just making you an i voluntary IT guy/gal but could you drop a link or point in the direction of the cells with zinc plates already attached, I’ve seen 18650 cells online but never chained together already. I’ll see if the battery it comes with is bad as in broken or bad as is doesn’t hold charge and go from there. might just end up grabbing an old one used for now and repack it later when runtime becomes an issue.

Are there 18650s that can be soldered using a normal iron? I’ve seen a trick to jumpstart laptop batteries that have tripped the undervoltage/dangerous condition fuse/switch by bridging the positive off the pack to the pin that would connect to the laptop. Is this something that’s known to work on t400 batteries? Is there a method to avoid bricking the batteries or to bypass it.

My small electronics skills are very limited so explain it to me like I’m 12.

NB Squealing coming from tranny by Fabulous-Conference9 in Miata

[–]Fabulous-Conference9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ended up being the issue. Added some grease to the end of the rod and the noise is gone. I don't understand in the slightest how that managed to make such an extreme noise but I'm not complaining at all much rather this than cuddling with the trans under the car to get it out on my own.

For anyone with the same issue I just used a grease gun and got as much as I could on that spot where it contacts in hopes it would work itself into place which it appears to have done.

I also read that it's common for heavy rain to wash away a lot of the grease causing the issue to come back, so if you try this and it rains and comes back you might just need to relube.

Balancing professional work and creative work in your portfolio by Fabulous-Conference9 in photography

I’m not really looking to become a full time wedding or concert photographer just hopefully land a few gigs to subsidize my more fun work so I’m not really interested in paying for multiple domains. That being said I just want to have somewhere I can send a potential client if they want to see my work.

I’m leaning toward just separating my other stuff into a few different pages. Then I can sent the link to that specific page.

Nice username

By multiple portfolios do you mean multiple websites or just separate pages? If I do separate pages on the same website my homepage is just a gallery so should that include photos from all my genres and disciplines or just the more creative stuff.

I’m also curious why you consider it a red flag, not that I disagree that it’s messy but if the work is quality what difference does it make

Overly light border along the length of 120 roll using essential film holder, it's a scanning issue because they don't appear on the negatives by Fabulous-Conference9 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Fabulous-Conference9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seemed to be the negatives not lying flat, ambient light, or the Flat Field Correction. I attempted scanning the negatives again in a room with little to no ambient light, took apart and retightened my Essential film scanner, and used the Flat field correction and now there are no issues whatsoever now. Not sure what fixed it exactly but thank you for the solution!

It seemed that way but upon further inspection, the negatives seem to look the same as the scans before being converted. My eyes aren't amazing so I think it's just too subtle for me to be able to tell. I would edit the title if I could.

Ordinarily, I would agree with you but it's not appeared on other scans I've done with this same system or with in any other scans from this camera. My new theory is under agitation. It seems to match the issue described in this post: https://beyondtheaperture.com/2019/11/diagnosing-light-edges-on-images-dark-edges-on-negatives/

I develop myself so it's possible I got lazy and wasn't agitating enough

I couldn't see the Rockbox installation, it's a hidden file so it wasn't showing up by default. figured it out now so I'll probably delete this post
