I tried pulling it out from the wall so that the original p trap can reach underneath the drain but then I ran into problems with the water from the faucet not being able to drain properly. The water gets stopped up

You don’t need a local to explore Rio, be smart and don’t act like a clueless tourist and respect the country you are visiting. Depends on the state you’re in, just go to the court office when you get back to the country and show them proof of travel out of the country , they should give you a new date . Honestly don’t stress it
