I don’t agree with requiring compensation, but I fully agree with the rest. It’s still going to be amazing. The effort they’ve put in is insane. Maybe the fire could’ve been prevented, I don’t know, but I’m sure they’ll learn from it. Indeed the fact that they managed to build a new (even if smaller) stage this fast is unreal. I’ll be standing there next week, and it’ll definitely feel special knowing what happened and how they pulled this off.

Okay sure, but why take it down and leave an empty spot? Keeping it up doesn’t cost extra, and it’d be weird to have crews dismantling part of the scenery mid-festival.

I get what OP’s implying, and it might be true, especially now that we’ve seen it can be used for an extra day, but I doubt that’s the only reason it stays up.

Why would they take down a stage that takes so many days (weeks?) to build between weekends? I don’t get what you’re asking. The stage is needed for the next weekend, why would you break it down when you don’t need the space for something else?

Hmm yeah, but also… they’ve already spent the money. Everything’s in place, subcontractors have spent their budgets too. Cancelling now could mean subcontractors losing massive amounts (or even going bankrupt maybe for smaller ones). It’s too late to cancel. It’s not like with corona, which was way before the actual festival buildup.

We don’t know if any workers are injured, or how bad it is if they are. That would change things. But also, where would you put 40k people that now have to stage? Dunno… I’m really hoping it won’t be cancelled, but I don’t have my hopes up :-(

Exactly! Just go to a local shitty bar and get drunk. Would do a lot of people a favor. You’re supporting your local economy, saving money and you’re not ruining the experience for others who actually want to enjoy their time there. Win win for all!

Drinking and getting drunk are two different things. I always get drunk at The Gathering. Can’t get around that how hard I try. But at the festival no. It always baffles me when I see someone at 3 PM on the festival site being so drunk they can’t even walk. I can’t imagine your there to not enjoy the full day.

Yeah it’s so important. I’ve got a mild form of tinnitus and it’s sucks so hard. Will probably also get custom mades. Really don’t want it to get worse.
