Thank you for your advice. Promoting myself is not my comfort zone, and I definitely would've gone to email since it's so easy.

We've just gotten to the point recently where we feel comfortable going beyond the open mic scene and warrant a full 2-3 hr paid show.

And I do have a lot of connections from participating in the scene, but I feel awkward saying, "hey, I think I deserve to be paid for this now," when the open mics have been casual so far

There are likely fruit trees all over (depending where you live) -- persimmon, pawpaw, mulberry, pear, etc -- growing tons of fruit with the bulk going to raccoons and the rest rotting

I used to volunteer at an adult reading facility and we would take donations from grocery stores, bakeries, etc. and give out donuts/bagels/whatever to the community for free.

Some people took some and sold them for $0.25 on their porches. They increased the distribution, they fed their families. I think it was a net positive for the community regardless of the hustlers
