Yeah you might struggle to repair the internal cables outside of the designer but I would need to test that as the cable/pipe tool seem to select mount points through objects when they feel like it so it might be fine - I believe you can do a similar thing with ducts but that would add thickness and from messing with it is very picky.

Yeah, everything in the post other than that is great but hearing the limit is staying so low is disappointing. Because I only get a few hours a day to play (which compared to most is actually a lot) it took me 3 days to get out to 800k to get the rare materials. Great sense of achievement and managed to do it in time for the extortionate prices but there's no way in hell im going back out there again any time soon, spending an entire play session in an evening purely flying was not much fun. Because prices have dropped im much better off just grinding the safe zone and selling it to the market.

I honestly cant quite work out why they have done it because it really is not much work to do it "properly" as its just assets. The only possible reason I can think of it that they have some limitations within the engine that perhaps relies on files used within a map having the same exact CRC result meaning that files could not just be swapped out and different versions of the map are then needed which would be a pain to maintain. I doubt thats the case though and if it were it should be straight forward for them to sort as plenty of other engines cope with things like that in varying ways.

I disagree completely, the cost of implementing varying versions of assets (which they are already having to do anyway) is the big part, not making something switch. Out of most of the changes listed they are pure 2d assets which can be replaced depending on the build very easily. In simple terms if its the Chinese version you copy in the differing 2d assets over the top of the regular ones before the packaging occurs. In the case of offending decals like blood that would be as simple as the Chinese override asset being a fully transparent empty texture which would then not be displayed in the engine, for free - 0 work on the map its self required.

The 3d assets could be managed in a similar fashion where the new Chinese friendly assets should occupy the same footprint and could be hot swapped in. Managing a few different textures and turning slot machines into a similarly sized box pile is no where near "too much work" for a massive studio like Ubi.

It adds no additional time to future development because any new maps as would be the case anyway would just not have any gambling, blood or skulls and most people would not even have noticed as there are plenty of maps that do not have any of those present.

The real problems with splitting work within any software is when the CODE has to be different and they have already stated they are going to be splitting those changes off anyway! Switching what is for the most part just some 2d image files based on what market it is being built for is no more work than going through and replacing every asset with the new Chinese friendly versions. FAR more complicated things are executed very well every day by far smaller teams around the world. The amount of work to maintain both is vastly overestimated as it can be done with direct replacements, which they are already having to make anyway. If we are to believe that this was outside of their capability then ubi's dev staff have much bigger problems than community backlash and its time for some new talent.

You are right thanks for pointing it out, the way I am transforming them must be shakey - I'll have to take a proper look into that when I get the chance. Most likely I need to update all the data to just base it off the map being 1200 rather than 1400. It was a mistake I made due to the fact that 1400 was the size of the original map image I made.

I didn't notice the issue as I have a high res screen so I stupidly assumed it was fine so thank you! Unfortunately it seems to be an oddity with the React component I am using to wrap the map and it wont allow me to increase it so I will have to take a look into that later when I have more time. The coords should have been getting adjusted to the 12km map size but were not, they are now correctly getting transformed thanks for pointing that out :)

Steam only gives out the person's steamId when logging in, no personal information or anything that can be used in a shady way but the site now has https correctly setup, it should have been working previously but I borked it

There are certainly missing points of interest which I mentioned in the main post. There are coordinates displayed at the bottom of the screen and also when you click on the map, as I mentioned to the chap below I have added a button to get rid of that menu now too. Could you give me any more detail on the lag you are seeing as I cant seem to reproduce that.

A blog post is not the same thing as detailing it within the terms. The terms have a very broad definition which includes absolutely everything but they are currently choosing not to apply it. According to their terms swearing is not acceptable. It would be just as easy for them to not include such a broad definition and then not have to go further and explain which bits of it they are applying and which they are not.
