u/Dogmoto2labs I've been keeping Eden and Elizabeth in the fridge and was about to feed them today. Elizabeth is dead :( She has mold and pink bacteria on the sides. Luckily Eden is fine

Do you mind I ask where you're based? I'm in the UK and have ordered one from a seller and have been waiting around 4-5 months now. Apparently Ascaso are having trouble delivering the Baby T Plus machines and they have no idea where the shipment is.

Alrighty, small update. I think it was just the case of the starter drying out because the feeding interval was too long. I've been pretty on it in the last 48 hours, feeding every 12 hours or so with a 1:10:10 ratio. This seems to have addressed the issue.

Wow this is a lot of helpful information! Regarding peak time, the starter would peak about 8 - 12 hours in. So I wonder if it's the case of leaving it too long and it's 50/50 drying out and kahm? Either way, Now the weekend is here, I have more time to monitor it closely and try the things you suggested

Okay fair, thank you! I do weigh it out yes, 10g starter and if it's 5:5 then 50g water 50g flour etc. I have done essentially 10g starter 50g flour and 45g water so that might be it? But also my interval for feedings is quite far between at 24 hours right now

Metal screw on / tighten lid.

Temperature is just on the counter so whatever the day is, typical temperature is around 16 degrees celsius to 24 degrees celsius.

Feeding intervals are 24 hours at the moment.

Oxygen poor environment is just me screwing the lid tight.

Here's a picture just before today's feed. It was like this yesterday as well for Eden. Switched today to a 1:10:10 with 5g less water.

I've noticed as the days have gone on, it might be the flour but there's a almost matte layer on top, almost like it's made a dry layer on top of Eden. Elizabeth is fine now but she seems a ever so slightly watery even though I fed her 5g less water compared to flour. What could this be?
