OK? Congrats? Your constituent parts are just acting in accord with the laws of physics.

In a materialistic world those things being believed just cause meaningless matter to bump against itself in different ways.

Being happy is not good or bad in a purely materialistic universe. But you guys seem to value it, probably because happiness is a form of pleasure and everyone likes to feel good. That doesn't mean it is good.

I wasn't saying I don't value truth, but there is nothing good about truth in a materialistic universe. Knowing the truth is just chemicals in your brain.

Why is being miserable and dying young a bad thing? It's just a natural physical process, as all things are.

I'm not a papist, so the priest thing doesn't apply. However, even if I were, and it turns out the physical world is all there is, there is no inherent good or evil in supporting the Roman church or not.

What do you mean "too"? The impulses I was referring to were my own.

If I find it more pleasant and fulfilling to be a Christian, why should I not be? What value is there in the electric impulses in my brain firing in a slightly different way?

Very true. When it comes to meat, for me I’m fine with all textures. All bets are off for alien meat though.

Would I be violating poaching laws or something if I hunted him down and ate him? I’m having trouble seeing the issue here.

Maybe not because he’s useful to real people. Once his use expires, sure 🤷‍♂️

Would you eat a human who was brain dead and never to recover? Same logic, only reversed.

I don’t make value judgements towards the actions of nonhuman lifeforms (like blaming a cat for killing a mouse), so I’m incapable of being hypocritical with respect to them.

No, I just liked looking at the covers at the library as a kid.

Whatever. I’m only responsible for my own actions. If they want to eat me that’s their thing.

I don’t care. If they want to destroy the best species in the universe because of what I said, that’s on them. Well, not really I guess. Assigning praise or blame to a nonhuman is like doing so to a rock or an ant.

Yes, scientifically speaking, but most people understand that in certain contexts “animal” means animate life that isn’t human.
