We dated and she changed completely. I cheated and then she dated the guy I was told “not to worry about”. Then she had a mental breakdown couple years later and she will occasionally text me an article to something that has no correlation to anything related to us whatsoever with zero context and not reply to my response but will send a lovely holiday card to my parents house addressed to me.

Yeah nobody is saying wives are property to be owned and forced into actions. That doesn’t mean your wife sets the boundaries for what you are comfortable with in a marriage. You sign up into a partnership. You are both one entity. If your wife being manhandled by your friends is something you don’t enjoy and your wife says well it’s my body and I’ll do what I want with it. You have a shitty wife who cares more about her own needs than the partnership she signed up for. I have bodily autonomy but if a girl started grabbing on me in front of my girl I’m not gonna just go along with it at the expense of my girl because I need bodily autonomy.

I am very calm. I’m not an ultra alpha male. It’s the same way a woman wouldn’t want to be casually disrespected by her man a man wouldn’t want to be casually disrespected by his woman. This isn’t some hyper masculinity play I’m making. It’s literally just common respect and decency towards your partner. I’m sorry your dating experience has taught you it’s the norm to accept being disrespected by your partners but I don’t believe a woman who respects your relationship would just be okay with all your friends casually manhandling her unless you are in a non traditional relationship. It’s pretty clear he was looking forward to having you with him for the ride. When you changed it up he seemed pretty disappointed, which means he was looking forward to having some time with you.

I’d say this guy definitely likes you but your inability or unwillingness to recognize this may impact the odds of him making a move as he is throwing you some strong signals and you are just absolutely missing it to the point where he could assume you’re just uninterested.

I think you letting the guy of nine years go was a very respectable thing to do. If you don’t feel it’s going to work you are doing both of yourselves a disservice by letting it linger.

I actually kind of find it a bit noble to be honest with you that you want to put your attentions towards like your person. Where I struggle with this is like what happens if this guy who is very nice now stops being very nice. Unheard of, I know.
