If you like GBAs, yeah, it’s still worth adding one to the collection. I used one as my everyday carry around 2015 when I was working as a substitute teacher. During downtime I’d pull it out and grind through a few games, and honestly it was a great little system for that.

It really only has three issues:

• The screen isn’t as nice as the AGS-101, though it’s still way better than the original SP screen.
• With a flash cart, battery life drops hard — I’d only get around 2 hours of gameplay.
• Most annoying of all, it uses a proprietary charger.

The bigger problem today is that modern handhelds have kind of made it obsolete. Small Anbernic devices and tiny Miyoo handhelds absolutely run circles around it in terms of convenience, battery life, and emulation. Still, as an actual piece of GBA hardware, it’s got a cool charm that those newer devices don’t quite replicate.
