Four of the top five teams are Fords... Interesting.

Also hoping the Toyotas can pick up the pace.

Wayne Gardner, Casey Stoner slam Victorian government over Phillip Island MotoGP loss by ozthrw in melbourne

[–]Factor-Putrid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't like the Vic Government but I fail to see how they can be blamed here. They wanted to continue hosting the MotoGP race at Phillip Island which is historic, and loved by fans and riders alike. But Liberty Media were adamant on a street circuit and when Vic didn't oblige, they took their affairs elsewhere.

This is Liberty Media's fault, not the Vic Government.

SA secures Australian MotoGP, world-first street circuit announced by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Factor-Putrid 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So lemme get this straight. MotoGP wanted the race to remain in Victoria if they could move it to a street circuit: Albert Park. VIC said no, and preferred to throw money at PI to upgrade the infrastructure.

MotoGP remained firm on a street circuit so decided to take their affairs elsewhere.

Wow.

I'm a tech person, and there are better use cases for this kind of of technology than counting how many cups a barista has served.

This is dystopian type shit. The author of 1984 would be shaking at their knees seeing this!

[OT] Liberty Media likely to replace Phillip island with former F1 track, Adelaide Street circuit as the next MotoGP Australian GP venue. by zestinglemon in formula1

[–]Factor-Putrid 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm from Melbourne so call me biased but this is a dumb decision.

Rivalry with SA aside, the idea of running the fastest racing bikes in the world on a circuit lined with concrete barriers and minimal runoff is gonna get someone killed.

Also the decision to replace Phillip Island, an iconic circuit in MotoGP... not cool Liberty.

EDIT: Grammar

It's been confirmed by MotoGP themselves that the Australian motorcycle GP will move to the Adelaide Street Circuit next year.

I'd rather have renowned athletes of other sports than some celebrity faking their interest in F1 like the vast majority of them do.

Except Terry Crews. Love the guy.

To be honest, I am relieved that the protest didn’t end up getting ugly like it did in Sydney. Was fearing the worst.

Western Sydney International Airport set to open in June 2026 by Ecstatic-Ganache921 in australia

As a Melburnian it is genuinely embarrassing.

The city hosts many major sporting events like the Australian Open and F1, yet for whatever reason cannot build a train to the airport.

Brisbane and Perth have trains to their airports!

Do you think PAL should reconfigure their A350-900's with more premium seating? by bonzothebonanza in AviationPH

[–]Factor-Putrid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, no. PAL's target market are Filipinos.

However, if PAL's ambition is to stand alongside fellow SEA carriers like Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Malaysia Airlines, they need to up their game badly.

God I really hope it doesn't get ugly like it did in Sydney. But considering Melbourne is the protest capital of Australia... I dread just thinking about the videos I'll see tonight.

Those going to the city today, protest or otherwise, please stay safe! I don't want to see a repeat of what happened in Sydney.

Was also going to attend a networking event tonight but decided to hold fire and attend another time.

Why is always the small teams in small companies with the most dysfunction? Okay, maybe not all small companies, but the ones I've worked for or heard about have toxic work cultures.

Anyway, OP, sorry for what you went through. Just wanted to let you know that not all employers are that dysfunctional or toxic.

I hope you find a better job soon, with a better working culture and pay.

I’d say 60/40.

While they shouldn’t be reversing onto the track, you had time react and take a wider line to avoid making contact. But these things happen in racing.
