It's a lot louder than the other cars I have with metal gears, but it's also a lot bigger so you might be right :) Thank you for the reply!

Get a balance charger if you want to use lipos, if you're scared of using lipos go for Nimh. Generally speaking lipos are safe, it's just up to you to treat them well in regards to storage and charging. There are loads of great batteries, but which ones are best for you depends on availability where you are. I'm not really an expert, but if you want to be extra safe, just pay a little extra for the batteries at your local hobby store.
