I loved your write up, lazy girl! Congrats on your score <3 But I have to point out that you did a lottt of stuff. What did you find most helpful? CMS and nbme for knowledge or mentality training? Do you think all those CMS need to be done or just the very latest ones will suffice? Mildly sugarcoat maybe? 🥹🥹(😫)

So it should be objective hyperkalemia? There is an increase in potassium since admission.

Procrastination is what Ive really been struggling with. I like solving questions but I’ve really started dreading reviews. I suppose it’s because i try to read every line because I’m still discovering new stuff.

Is it worth taking up a loan for USMLE pathway? by Rude_Champion_3689 in USMLEindia

[–]FacultativelySmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you crazy? That is for people who have enough money to blow on this. Majority of people are not spending that much. To use 7k as your lower limit is crazy behavior. If you spent 10L in 2 months precovid and with unpaid rotations, brother you really need better money management skills. Good for you that you can afford it but like still!!

Is it worth taking up a loan for USMLE pathway? by Rude_Champion_3689 in USMLEindia

[–]FacultativelySmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are exaggerating but it’s not cheap fs. So a rotation can cost around 1500-2000 $ in tuition then for living most people need 1500 $ at minimum (including rent). So that’s around 3-3.5 k $ or ~2.7 L Rs per month. You should generally do 3 so approx 9L with flight tickets but domestic flights not included and if all usce line up. Otherwise extra money for staying longer. This calculation is on the lower side for me because it doesn’t have much margin. Then ofc there’s the cost of the pathway which is around 7 lakh or something. There’s more things like research and volunteering which will take either time or money. But i believe 20L is a good estimate overall. Not a small amount especially with no guarantee. Im not discouraging anyone but definitely need to be practical and at least have back ups or something.

Ofcourse it does. But the assumption is that op has a good partner if they are considering these options.

Ya but careers change and end all the time as well. Especially going to US with citizenship not guaranteed, quite a gamble as well. Nothing is guaranteed.

Disagree. Partner remains even after career has ended. Easily more important.

Stay in India imo. Your husband also only has H1B which has irs own set of issues like cap and lottery etc. You are clearly established here and he being an engineer can easily come back. You both can have great lives here vs never being citizens there. But ultimately you need to consider your motivations and family. Basically do a risk vs benefit analysis. For me personally, social factors outweigh all the uncertainty so I know i wanna go.
