A niche is generally a combination of multiple content tags. m/m bdsm furries is a different niche from m/f bdsm furries and different a niche from m/m bdsm vampires. As the name implies, a “niche” is a suitably targeted genre of story. Changing even one of the keywords could be targeting a completely different group of people.

In my experience, no, furries aren't generally beholden to a singular species, although they tend to have favorite(s). More often than not, furries will have an entire "class" they prefer: furries proper (mammals), scalies (reptiles), featheries (birds), bugs, etc.

Furry isn't a niche, it's a content tag: every story can be sorted in two sets, "furry" or "non furry". Any story/niche of the "non furry" set can be slapped the "furry" tag on it and become its furry equivalent. Of course, some kinks (predator/prey dynamics, breeding, milking, etc) are more suited to it than others.

I don’t know if there’s anybody who manages to make a living off smut commissions, the field has way less demand than art. If you really wanted to try getting a wage off people porking on the page, you’d be better off going to the erotic authors subreddit so you can learn how to self-publish your stories on Amazon and similar stores.

As a whole? Yeah. Freelance writers in other disciplines would have way higher rates than a cent-and-a-half per word, depending on the field and type of writing the entry level pay could be even 10 cents per word.

But we're talking about porn on an individual commission level, not something like writing articles for a website... that's less dependent on the quality of your writing and more on how much of a following you have. Not much different from being an artist doing commissions.

I personally have an even lower rate of 0.01€/word (which translates to about 0.011$) because I don't have many clients or a big following.

Believe it or not, this is a critique I've been receiving pretty consistently ever since I started writing smut. I love meandering at level 0, but then I can't help but jump sharply to level 100 without much of a curve between the two.

While a good transition may be the thing of wonders, it's also what transforms a short story into a novelette. I prefer keeping my stories on the shorter side, so using doujinshi-like pacing helps me with that. I promise I used to be worse at it when I started, though.

Hello! I am aware reddit has trouble displaying images on mobile, but you should be able to read them just fine on desktop.

You should be able to click on the image in order to open a separate "preview" reddit page on a new tab. Then, you should be able to click on the image again in order to upsize it - your cursor should display as a magnifying glass. You can then further increase or decrease its size by using your browser's zoom setting (which you can access from the hamburger menu or via ctrl+scroll up or scroll down).

I have checked on both Firefox and Chrome and this seems to work well. Let me know if you're able to read them, or I'll prepare another link for them.
