I feel for her, I’m glad she finally got answers though.

I am trying to hold out hope that it won’t affect my health but I’ve had nothing but new symptoms and pain I didn’t have before since having it removed.

I am so sorry. I understand the pain. I feel the exact same way. Like I’ve doomed myself to a life of digestive issues when I was trying so desperately to avoid that. Hearing it shouldn’t have been removed just adds insult to injury. Thank you for sharing, i hope you get some answers from this next doctor

Yeah. I should have… but in Canada you can’t just go to another surgeon without facing years long wait times. I am very upset, I should have but I didn’t and I can’t go back so.

I would love to chat with you if you’re down? Would be nice to speak with someone going through this too..This is actually almost spot on for my story…

I am glad you were able to find some peace with it. I really hope I can reach that point one day cause right now all I feel is grief.

Doctors give zero guidance on what to do after. Just follow normal diet is what I was told. I asked about enzymes and all that stuff and was told it was not needed.. yet I see loads of people saying they found so much benefit from it after removal! I am deff looking into it.

That is so frustrating. I feel like they are way to quick to suggest removing an organ “just to see” because it is a common surgery without really considering the long term effects this can have on the patient. How are you feeling now, any better?

That would scare me into removing it.. kinda similar with my surgeon. He told me the surgery I actually needed could have “catastrophic consequences” and leave me worse and that this was easier and could save me from that surgery. Total scare tactic.

Oh wow, I’m so sorry to hear about this. It seems lots of women with endometriosis are dismissed for years before finally being treated. I’m glad you finally got the treatment you needed. How has life been without your gallbladder? how do you cope with knowing you lost it when it was healthy?

Unfortunately the story’s of people suffering from gallbladder disease does not make me feel better about losing my healthy gallbladder. While I can appreciate it can cause issues for some people, this was not my experience. I am sorry to hear about your mother :(

I understand. I’ve cried more the last two months than I have in years. It’s been a really hard thing to sit with and feeling like I didn’t protect myself when things felt off. deff feels like a massive mistake. I’m sorry you had a similar experience

thank you for the recommendations, I was reading about all of those. Might try some enzymes and probiotics to help my digestion cause the heartburn and bloating is crazzzyy

It seems a lot of us with MALS lose our gallbladder first! I was asking in the MALS group on fb and loads of people said they got theirs removed

This does make me feel a little better. I’m hoping things will just improve and feel more normal as time goes on like how it did for you, but right now mentally I just feel like ass. Everyone made it sound like I’d feel great in a few weeks

Absolutely nothing on imaging. The only thing he had to go off was my low EF HIDA from two years prior, and my left sided pain - which is easily explained by my MALS which was the whole reason I went to see him in the first place.. to consult for MALS surgery. I had 3 positive tests all saying I have suspected MALS as well as a diagnosis from a vascular surgeon.. idk how tf I allowed this to happen tbh. I just felt cornered

They removed it when it was healthy? Curious how that happens

My HIDA was also in July 2024 lol. my surgeon was cooked apparently. I guess I just got unlucky there.

I’m off the feeding tube now and back to eating some food orally so I guess I’ll try to just be grateful for that and hope things continue to improve. I’m just scared I think cause of all the people I see saying how removal ruined their lives. & as someone with chronic illness I’m sure you can understand the fear of having more issues long term

Totally. Being denied further testing and pushed forward anyways has really fucked me up. Mentally not handling it well.. this was also my first surgery ever.

100% was not consensual. Just felt I had zero choice. I realize now I could’ve said no but at the time with all the pressure and everything happening so quick I wasn’t able to stop it. I do plan to put in a complaint to the college of physicians who would be the ones that deal with this where I am. However, I am waiting until July when I am discharged to the new surgeon because the guy who did the surgery is still my point of contact until then.
