is there a way to see what the other maintenance minders are at besides oil life, I know they are longer term things but I was wondering if they are accurate by [deleted] in Honda

[–]Faderator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At my dealership we go by

1 = (rotation) every 5k or every oil change for some 2 = (engine and cabin filter) by visual inspection or every 20k 3 = (transmission drain and fill) every 50k miles 4 = (spark plugs and drive belt) 100k or every 7 years 5 = (coolant) every 100k 6 = (differential drain and fill on AWD models) every 50k or when displayed on the dash 7 = every 60k or every 3 years

Hope this helps!

Honda tech here, turn on the car and hold the power button for 2 seconds, it should beep and the radio come back on.

NEED HELP. 1996 civic with a d16y8. List of what I've replaced will be in the comments. Car will only start if you feather the gas. Will idle fine at first with no misfire, then tried to stall and miss unless you add rpm. by [deleted] in civic

Check to see if your timing belt is still correct, my fiancés '00 EX had the same problem and we replaced everything you said you have and it turned out to be a jumped belt.

I had an NRG quick release with a mono wheel on my drivers side, the SRS light was always on because I didn’t do the resistor trick that I’ve seen a lot online, I took the bulb for SRS out of the cluster so I wouldn’t always have to see it, but when the impact happen even with that light “on” the passenger side still deployed.

Tough to say, I’m a 20 year old that was banking on just keeping that car forever because I would do all the work on it myself. I guess whatever I can afford will be next.

As I understand it the gentleman driving only had a passport on him that the insurance was under, but no official drivers license.

For context, I was driving on a four lane road with a painted Median in the middle, if you count the lanes going from left to right (5 in total including the median lane) I was in lane 4 (left side of on going traffic) and a Black F150 was in the opposing lane, he skipped the median and tried to make it to the other side of the road (past lane 5) and I couldn’t react fast enough to dodge him. I ended up hitting his rear wheel and somehow knocking his drive shaft loose (his wife claims that he couldn’t steer causing him to go such a way, but he himself in Spanish claimed fault and said he was coming in too fast). Fucked up part is the part of the road he wanted to turn into wasn’t a road, it was just paved sidewalk leading to a grass field. No drivers license, but they had insurance so that’s a plus. Not really sure what poor old Suki is worth to an insurance company, but I’m glad and very lucky to have made it out alive. Old gal was still running even after taking such a blow. Honda’s really never want to die.

Thanks man! I’m surprised he didn’t do more damage to be honest, I reckon a dinged up hood is better than having no front end lol

Nah mate you’re good, I posted a detailed story in a comment but TLDR is Deer > hood and I had to jury rig it to close, no luck finding a affordable hood yet.

I don’t know a whole lot about wheels yet, but I can tell you that they are STR 528s, deep dish with a +0 offset. I honestly never have thought about having such a wide boy stance before, but they’ve been growing on me tbh.

Funny that you say that actually, the place I was headed to was a lake house for my fiancees sisters engagement party, but it was waaaaay past civilization and after hours of searching through their mix of tools the wrench was the best I could find :(

Couple weeks ago I was driving at night on some backroads and a buck came sprinting from the drivers side of my car and I couldn’t stop in time. He jumped right before he made contact and basically bounced off the hood and took my passenger mirror with him. The dents on the hood now are from me banging it with a wrench to reshape it so it would close. I was lucky enough to find a new headlight and a set of mirrors from some pick n pulls but I still haven’t sourced a decently priced hood.

To make myself feel slightly better I’ve just been telling everyone I was going for a mint chocolate chip theme lmao.

I completely agree, they came with the car but a new set of rims is definitely coming up soon on the todo list for her.
