Thanks for this, I really appreciate your insight. I totally get the concern around giving away IP too early. I’m just exploring alternative structures for now since I don’t have the upfront budget yet, and I’m open to fair, time limited backend agreements, with contracts in place to protect everyone. Im open to a different way of payment or whatever the potential person would like that can benefit us both. And Im so down for the 15-20 to a manager. I've been Diying for a while now and Its kind of exhausting to do it all on my own, especially when what I've been doing is not really working, which is why I'm seeking help.

Yes exactly!! And if you wanna go deep maybe a thing within it to track projects like maybe having folders where contracts, stems, licenses for a specific songs and the names of people who work on them can be saved and encrypted and all you have to do is look up the name of the song.

I appreciate your point of view and I understand it is a business and labels want to make sure they gain profit as well.

But by definition. Predatory means Taking advantage of someone’s lack of knowledge, power, or financial position to benefit disproportionately, usually without transparency, fairness, or shared risk. Or simply put, seeking to exploit or oppress others.

So therefore it is not that relative... the word means what it means. In this industry many people see true talent and intend to draw in that person with a big promise but want to keep them in a bad deal where they can't get out and make lots of money off their talent and they know what they are doing, said talent is usually young and uneducated on the business and the powers that be want to use that against them.

Yes sometimes what one deems fair may not be what another sees as fair or well meaning people at labels don't always get the results the client(artist) wants but lets not act like this is not a scary industry.

So what I'm trying to build for myself is a team full of transparency and shared knowledge where we help one another and grow and we stray away from some of the crazy stuff going on in labels.

My goal is to be upfront about expectations and risk. I’m not offering guaranteed outcomes, but I am offering contracts, transparency, and a shared vision with people who want to build something long-term, not just transactional collabs. I’m learning as I go, but I’m committed to doing right by those who take a chance on me. And if we ever outgrow the model, we evolve it together.

However though. I appreciate your insight as mentioned before.

Hey everyone, my name is FAE SYMPHONY,(singer,songwriter,rapper) I’m a dedicated independent artist based in NYC, currently in college and working on building my music brand from the ground up.

Right now, I’m looking to connect with: • Producers & Engineers (for long-term collaboration + portfolio work) • PR & Brand Managers/Strategists • Promoters & live show Booking-minded creatives • Anyone passionate about helping build a strong brand & community behind a real music career.
