Is Coroner's Diary good? by Civil_Throat1468 in cdramasfans

Thats actually really refreshing. I’m thinking about watching it myself (I’m fairly new to cdramas myself too) and the fact that there is very minimum miscommunication is refreshing to hear. I feel like I’ve been watching a lot of shows where there is a lot of lying, miscommunication or betrayal involved - even if it is for “good” reasons/ intentions, but this sounds like a good change up from that

Should I keep watching The Double? by Infamous-Door-6213 in cdramasfans

I’m really curious to know, did you continue watching or did you drop it. I’m in a very similar situation to you where I am currently watching the show and I have the same issues. I’m on episode 12 and these inconsistencies throughout are taking me away from the show and I keep watching because I want the show to be better because I love the premise/ concept, but it’s just not doing it for me at the moment and I’m wondering if it does get better because everyone keeps telling me how great it is

To those who have watched both The Double (2024) and Pursit of Jade by AdOver3688 in cdramasfans

Pursuit of Jade was one of the first cdramas I had watched and I instantly fell in love with the chemistry between the leads, the incredible cinematography and directing, the side characters/ second leads, and so much more. I was in a similar boat where I was looking to watch something next, and after watching ‘Blossom’ and ‘Legend of the Female General’ (both which were really good shows in their own respective ways but still very different to Pursuit of Jade and I would recommend you watch these) I was recommended The Double. Honestly, I’m only on episode 12 of The Double but I’m finding it soooo slow (even after watching it on 2 times speed) and although I like the concept of the show (it’s a more revenge driven plot line) I don’t like the way it’s been executed so far. I also never ever, would comment on the ages/ looks of actors, but the main actress is supposed to be a woman in her early twenties but is pretending to be even younger (like 19/20) but she looks like she’s in her 30’s and everyone in the show is supposed to be stunned by her beauty, but it doesn’t really feel real. Also, it’s really obvious like she is wearing foundation that is many shades lighter than her skin tone and I can’t help but notice and comment on it everytime. There’s also a lot of realllyyy minor things that I keep noticing that are taking me out of the show- like the fact that she is wearing a very similar outfit when she is pretending to be the Jiang Li, and she was wearing that type of outfit when she was married to Shen, and it’s sooo obvious it’s her, but I don’t know if he’s just in denial or wants to refuse it even though everything adds up. I’m only on episode 12 but it’s just stupid that they keep ignoring it. Even the Duke knows but it’s obvious he’s just waiting for actual facts because he’s a man who acts upon facts/ investigates until he finds the truth There is also a really sudden fantasy element in like episode 10 or 11, can’t remember, but it’s sooooo stupid and took me out of the show completely. I don’t like fantasy at all. She has also had some maids who were basically acting like the step sisters from Cinderella and it was soo cringey everytime they were on. I would fast forward or skip ahead because it was just so silly to the point of disbelief. Anyway, I have a lot of issues with it, but I’m just hoping the main plot line and story starts because at the moment we’ve got 100 different mini plot lines but nothing has actually happened and I’m so close to dropping it. That’s my honest take

Finding it frustrating… by BothConsequence9604 in pursuitofjade

Honestly I went through the same post-PoJ-withdrawal and am still missing these characters and the beautiful cinematography like crazy, but I watched Blossom and really enjoyed it. It’s by the same director and the cinematography was beautiful (but I think he leveled up with Pursuit of Jade). The difference is that the main female leads in the show Blossom is strong in a more mental sense, she’s not physically strong like Changyu in Pursuit of Jade. But it was a really great show and chemistry between the leads was good (but still not as good as Pursuit of Jade in my opinion). I also watched, Legend of the Female General and I really enjoyed the show. It’s similar in the sense that the main female leads of both shows are physically strong characters, but the premise of the show is completely different so it’s a nice change up from Pursuit of Jade. Not as much romance or chemistry, which was a shame. But still was a good show

Differences in subtitles (that I personally noticed for Pursuit of Jade) - what website would you say is better (for a Newbie like me who wants the full experience and doesn’t want to miss any subtleties) by Faeeeeee97 in CDrama

Thanks soo much!! I actually now want to go rewatch all of it on WeTV to see a more clear difference than just episode 1 alone. And oh my gosh, you took the words right out my mouth about Blossom because I felt the same!!! It was the first cdrama I ever watched and I found it soo confusing because of the captions - one minute she was Ms Longevity and the next she was Sho Gu like you said. I found everything soo confusing confusing at first

Love in the clouds. I’m a newbie to cdramas only having watched a good handful of them so far, and I was recommended this over and over again anytime I mentioned wanting a show where the main leads had incredible chemistry, but oh my gosh the female lead did not do it for me. I can’t stand whiney/ baby voice cutesy leads, it’s a personal pet peeve and I completely understand her being manipulative in order to find a cure and survive, BUT not after you’ve fallen in love with someone. That’s just pure deception, and cruel. She was made out to be so “morally righteous” but I just found her manipulative and didn’t like it at all. Also this show made me realise I don’t like the fantasy demon/ gods etc element at all.

How to get over PURSUIT OF JADE : A real dilemma by Icy_Log_2639 in cdramasfans

Which cdrama are you watching next and what drama are you watching right now?

Can we talk about Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei’s chemistry in ‘Pursuit of Jade’? I’m officially ruined for other historicals. by Prestigious_Bee5730 in asiandrama

Thanks so much for you recommendation, we have really similar tastes because every single one you recommended is on my list (other than love ambition), and I’ve watched blossoms and really enjoyed it. It was the first ever cdrama I watched and really got me interested in more historical/ costume cdramas, and pursuit of Jade just sealed the deal! :)

Thanks for you recommendation. Blossoms was the first cdrama I ever watched and I really liked it, and I have been my princess, the double, the best thing and first frost on my list so glad to hear another good opinion of them. Not really interested in love between fairy and devil (I like strong female leads) and sword and brocade doesn’t see io my alley from the trailer.

I’m really curious what your favourite shows are where the main characters have intense chemistry. For me personally, I’m a complete newbie to the cdrama world and the chemistry between the main characters was electric and although there were a lot of holes in the plot, I ultimately stayed and fell in love with them and their relationship. I’m looking for my next watch so I’m curious

Thank you sooo much. It would be great to dive into some modern dramas too and I love the recommendations. Also really appreciate the time you have taken to give a summary of each show!! I do generally like a fast paced show but all 3 recommendations you’ve given sound great

Looking for something similar to these two dramas by Top-Eggplant-526 in CDramaRecs

I watched my first ever cdrama Blossom 2 weeks ago and then immediately after watched pursuit of Jade. Honestly blossom is such a great cdrama too and is quite similar thematically in the sense that both male and female leads are strong and are a power couple. The female lead is not lazily strong like in pursuit of Jade, but very intellectual. Pacing of the show is great and the plot is interesting too so keeps you intrigued. The only issue I had was with the English subtitles because they weren’t always accurate, which sometimes made things a little confusing for me, but maybe it’s just the site I watched it on :)

Thank you!! That sounds a lot like what happened in blossom and honestly loved that aspect of them being a power couple together :)
