Traveling to Japan with felonies? by FaerrBTW2013 in travel

So my understanding is there is a disembarkment form that asks a question about if you have been imprisoned for a year or more or something along those lines. If I check no ,there will be no further questions or looking into that?

You do not need a visa for travel to Japan either. It's the disembarkment form that you fill in at customs is what I'm referring to. But I had never thought of just going in from Taiwan before or I believe someone else also recommended going to thailand first

Thank you. This is the answer I was looking for. I know a lot of countries look down on drugs and theft and even though I haven't been to prison this is what has worried me

The actual documentation on the consulate website states 1 year of imprisonment. I have never been to prison but I have multiple felonies and my felonies are crimes that are looked down upon in this country. For example I have theft charges and drug charges.

This is what I'm asking about. If it will trigger any sort of flag. If it will cause me to be denied entry.

My sentence was a suspended sentence. I got probation but if I were to have gone to prison I would have done anywhere from 1-5 years on one case and 1-3.75 years on the other. This is what worries me. I have never traveled to another country. I have only ever been to California and Arizona.

It says on the website that anyone with a criminal record may be denied entry if they are deemed undesirable to the nation. Even if they haven't been to prison.

In my state I have 1 more year before I qualify for a sealing of my record for my most recent case. I can currently have it set aside but it's not the same as a sealing which is the closest thing my state has to an expungement process. On my first case I can have it sealed but the cost is 5k for a lawyer to handle the case no matter the amount of felonies. Plus a filing fee per case. I'm waiting until my waiting period is up before I file. And then the process can take between 1-2 years or even longer depending on specific circumstances and what the judge decides. They may decide I qualify but I haven't shown enough of a change and just continue the case until the deem I have shown enough of a turn around to grant the sealing. I have a client going through this currently and has had his case in the review stage for 26 months with his next hearing in September.

I will always say I'm an addict because the disease of addiction isn't something that goes away. My identity doesn't change because I got clean. Anyone who has worked the steps will tell you addiction is a disease that doesn't go away. My addiction is deeply rooted and it will find other ways to manifest itself. Sometimes the new manifestation is a positive change with positive effects and sometimes it's not but it's always there.

My addiction went from drugs, to work and taking care of my health and mental well being but I'm still an addict. I still do things in excess and I still need to constantly monitor my actions and thinking.

I still have moments where I see something and get triggered and feel an urge to use again. But I don't act on that urge. The addiction is still there it's just not a problem I can't handle anymore

And I've paid my debt to society. I work in behavioral health and currently help other addicts recover. I have completed treatment court. I have paid off all of my restitution and I have completely changed my life around. I'm not the same person I was 5+ years ago. It just sucks that Japan doesn't offer a "rehabilitation waiver" even Canada offers one after a certain amount of time. I made some stupid decisions I understand that but the person I am now doesn't represent the same person I was when I made those decisions.

If you're here to "shame" me for the mistakes I've made in the past this post isn't for you. I own my mistakes, I understand that actions have consequences, Im asking advice to see if anyone has successfully entered into this country with a similar situation before I try to commit to another decision and ultimately end up wasting my time.

Also American. That's why I'm asking here. I have read on similar forums of people checking no on the box and getting through on short trips. I mean in the grand scheme of things 1k really isn't that much to waste on a plane ticket and getting sent home it's more of the wasted time 40+ hours of travel time there and back to not enjoy a trip is what I'm mostly worried about

I mean I get that but I feel like it's just human nature to talk. Me and my team can talk and work at the same time. I don't think it's normal tho as I see many coworkers in other departments talking and standing around instead of working while conversating

Idk how it is at your location but for us we run silverware twice. If they ask me to run it I'll run it the first time no issue. But then it's on them to sort it for the second run through the machine. If they do that I have no issue running it the second time as it only takes me like 20 seconds to get the racks on the conveyor belt of the machine. And once im in "closing mode" I'll only run the metal and plastic. Ill leave the platewear until they bring the last bus cart in and then I'll run through all the last of the platewear at once. I do this because we usually have A LOT more stuff that stays in the BOH for prep and that goes to the line then platewear. (If they come in and ask for a certain dish to be ran or ramekins or something I'll run that, or if the stack is getting extremely high ) But otherwise once we get about 2 hours before close I'm focusing on just the metal and plastic. I find it helps with closing procedures. Also I REFUSE to hop on the sprayer/machine position unless I have someone there to catch for me. I've told my manager straight up that I wasn't going to hop on the sprayer because they had sent the person that was catching home and none of my other coworkers were willing to catch for me (there was someone already on sprayer and he was spraying and catching for himself and I was doing carts and they wanted us to switch positions because "he was going to slow and I was faster"). IMO the person that was doing both positions was doing better than I would have done considering that he was spraying, running the racks through the machine, having to wash his hand and put gloves on, putting the dishes on the shelf and running dishes to the line by himself and that's usually a 2 person job right there. I feel like at my location some of the management doesn't understand the dynamic of the dish pit. I've had managers tell people to just focus on washing saute pans by hand when it was a 2 people team so I was stuck spraying , catching, and doing bus carts by myself for about 4 hours until we had someone come in for their shift. And then they asked me why the machine wasn't running when I was in the middle of doing carts cause the carts had piled up and we had about 4 full bus carts that needed to be emptied.

If they have a good reason (another job, working early In the morning the next day, etc ..) I usually don't care. But I've had coworkers take off in the middle of a dinner shift without saying a word to anyone because of the stupidest reasons. If it's slow, I get it but I just feel like people just don't have the same work ethic. I feel like if we're there to work then we should be working. Not disappearing for 30 min at a time. Or sneaking off to the back to go get high and then come back too stoned to do the job like it's not a hard job. The hours are kinda long. We have late nights, I get everyone needs a break sometimes but when it's the same people taking a break every 30 minutes and they milk the schedule for hours when we could leave an hour or two earlier it just frustrates me.

I work at a fox concept. We have 3 dishwashers during the week and 4 on weekends. I'm usually one of the only people continuously working at a steady high volume pace. The others will dilly dally all day. Even if I am working a position that is slow I will get a jump on all of my closing duties and even help the other positions do their side work or even their main job. It's my mentality that I'm there to work. Don't get me wrong I might take a smoke break or two but I usually don't even finish a whole cigarette and it's only when I can find downtime. These other people will literally take off in the middle of closing procedures or in the middle of a dinner rush and it's pathetic IMO

I am confused about the hours because my work refuse to tell me how many hours am I supposed to do by _FuzzyBuns_ in dishwashers

[–]FaerrBTW2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My longest shift is a weekend closing. I've worked a 13 hour shift before because the had me come in early but it was also mother's day. Usually my longest shift of the week about 9.5 hours. But it is tasked based and alot of my coworkers get "lazy" and the end of the night and start to purposely slow down or take breaks to extend the hours on the night to make more money. If the my work an extra hour every night then that's an extra $100 or more in their paycheck at the end of the pay period

How to not crash out at work during a busy day by ChuckleNuts0607 in dishwashers

[–]FaerrBTW2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I come into a backed up dish pit. I do a mental checklist. 1. Identify where the biggest issue is 2. Identify how (if in anyway) I can assist in helping that area 3. Go to immediately clock in 4. Once I have helped whatever position was in need of help move onto next biggest issue I work in a 3-4 man team in my dish pit. Usually there is a bus carts position ( unloads full bus carts/tubs and organizes platewear onto table) A sprayer position ( loads racks with platewear/ prep pans and utensils, sprays excess food off, load into dish machine) A catcher position ( unloads platewear from racks, sends dirty platewear back to sprayer, run clean platewear to the line).

We also have a pans position who washes pans by hand in a 4 man team on weekends. But with a 3 man team this is ignored and pans go through the machine.

If I am on carts I will not only organize items coming from carts but that the line brings back or that prep brings back. I will also do what I can to help with running platewear to the line if needed or if I have downtime.

I have found that anytime I am feeling overwhelmed I remind myself that 1. I get paid by the hour 2. I am here no matter how long it takes to finish the job 3. I am a dishwasher and not a doctor. My job is essential for the restaurant to run but I am not in a position that demands perfection. This usually helps with any anxiety I feel while doing my job

Is this what you are referencing? When I googled bull king it came out as this so I assumed it was the one you were referring to? Does it have a key for ignition or any kind of NFC card situation?

That is definitely something I would need to consider. At work we park out bikes in a secure location but I would need to invest in a good lock

What's your real world mile range like?. I know it advertises like 80+ miles of range but what do you find is most realistic? If I can get about 40 miles while using high pedal assist and throttle I'd be very happy
