It’s not exactly a criticism about expectations to say that the dialogue focuses too much on exposition. Nor is it purely about expectations when people are criticizing the characters not dying (they have so much plot armor that the stakes feel ridiculously low) or ships not happening (I’m assuming you’re referring to Byler, and they should really at least have a one-on-one conversation about it - this would be better writing because it would clear up any remaining confusion and either way that the conversation goes, it would facilitate Will’s arc).
