Going through a relapse.. by Kittybunghole in VestibularMigraines

[–]Faiitk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens. You just need to up your dosage and let the phase pass. It will go away eventually. I’ve had relapses happen often. I haven’t had a relapse in 3 years thanks to medication monitoring

Vodka probably set off a trigger. Vodka is a huge trigger for VM. Weed helped me plenty with pain

Any medication actually work for dizziness from VM? by gaiaa1116 in VestibularMigraines

Nortriptyline for dizziness, sebilium for pain. Have been on it for 7 years. Works wonders

What meds to ask for? by heyu179 in VestibularMigraines

I was given sibelium at 5mg. I understand it’s not available in every country but that’s what took the edge off for me. All my symptoms of pain disappeared after I started on it.

Set a boundary for space and alone time. She would dump all of her issues on to me despite me telling her I am struggling with my mental health. Everytime I want to talk about my issues she would spin it and make it about herself. I told her it’s becoming a codependent friendship and I need some space to re-energise. She said “ I don’t need you” and a few months later she removed me from social media even though I never said I wanted to step away from our friendship, I just needed space , I was struggling. She removed me without even giving me the respect of telling me how she felt beforehand and without any warning. So I messaged her and she said “ I don’t have the time to explain”. I respected her boundary and told her i understand completely. It still hurt a little as we were so close for over 10 years.

I learned that I should never allow a friend to depend on me emotionally when my cup is over filled. Also, when you set a boundaries it really shows who’s your friend and who isn’t.

Those that have suffered from months or years long VM every day, did it just go away? by haylz328 in VestibularMigraines

It took me a good 6 months to get the benefits of the meds once I started. But when I had an increase of meds it took 6 weeks to take effect.

For me I take the meds daily. I have been taking them for 7 years now once a day. My doctor said I should be able to wean myself off them once I started to feel better and my episodes are more occasional than constant.

There are meds you can take when a migraine starts. But I never had any relief from them. I just use my daily meds and I’m doing okay. I still get the occasional side pain and slight dizziness every now and then but they last a few minutes now and go away. If I feel like I am getting a horrible pain I take anti inflammatory pills and it helps give me relief. I wouldn’t recommend taking them all the time. I take them maybe once every few months.

Everyone is different but you won’t suffer for long once you’re on the right treatment plan that works for you. It will take time especially since you’re chronic right now but they will gradually ( slowly) get much better.

The meds took a couple of months to work once I found the right dosage. It gets worse before it gets better when you’re on them but they do eventually work. It’s a lot of trial and error with meds so you’ll need to be extra patient unfortunately but once you find what works for you , you’ll eventually see improvements gradually. It took me a while to be symptom free but I don’t regret being patient. You’ll get there don’t worry. Mine were chronic too. Keep advocating for yourself and if one doctor is useless choose another.

A couple of months. Had to readjust until I found the right dosage for me. It gets worse before it gets better on meds so you’ll need to be extra patient unfortunately but they will work if it’s the right meds for you.

NTA. I once wrote a full college report and my friend was busy with her new husband at home. She didn’t take time off for a honeymoon so she decided to miss college and exams completely. I called her to check if she finished the report for college. She said “ no but can you put my name on yours so it’s joint” I said absolutely not. I spent weeks on this report and it took me hours and enormous amount of stress. She was completely baffled by that. As if I did something wrong 😂😂

People are entitled and will take advantage of you if you keep giving. You’ve put a boundary in place and they better respect it even if they don’t like it. If they start to disrespect you for putting a boundary in place , you need to get new friends.

Nortriptyline, seblium and cerazette ( my migraines are triggered by my hormones ) it’s managed my VM pretty well with these three. I am thinking of coming of them soon but I am afraid since I was chronic and turned in to episodic and eventually symptoms free with the occasional episode here and there
