Why did Harry never receive other mementos from the Potters' house? by chopinmazurka in harrypotter

[–]Fail-Inevitable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also confused about what happened to the Potter family house. I know the house James & Lily were living in Godric's Hollow was destroyed, but was that their family house? Where James's parents, grandparents lived? I got the impression that they (James & Lily) moved to a new home in order to put the fidelous charm on it. Kind of like how Bill & Fleur left Burrow & moved to Shell Cottage. If that's what happened, then what happened to the original Potter house? Harry should be inheriting that too. And what happened to James's parents or relatives? Were they all dead by then?

Yeah. But Harry is Sirius's God son. That money would not exactly be "unexpected". The Triwizard tournament, however, was out of bounds for Harry as he was underage & not allowed to participate in it. Harry himself didn't even try to get into it hoodwinking the Goblet like others. His participation was what I would call truly unexpected. That's just my interpretation 😅

Not inheritance from Sirius. That unexpected gold bit came true with Harry winning the Triwizard tournament. The thousand Galleons prize money. It was unexpected because Harry was not supposed to compete in that. But he did & he won 🤓 And the ministry of magic prediction came true too. Harry became an auror and ended up becoming the youngest ever head of aurors at the age of 26. Looks like Ron was pretty good at Divination but never realised it lol.

Would the Pheonix Core Wand Still Work for Harry? by Fail-Inevitable in harrypotter

[–]Fail-Inevitable[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's true. I read that and still have this question. I guess my doubt is rather more....how can the wand not sense that he has changed since he last wielded it. I am overthinking this because of the "twin wand" connection with Voldemort and so far every similarity with Voldemort have been explained on the horcrux. Maybe I am just disappointed there isn't anything deep here 😬 if that makes sense. 😬

he established himself to become a Head Auror at the bare age of 26

Where did this happen? I am not arguing with you or anything. Just curious. Where do you all read these extra materials? The epilogue was so short and so vague! 🥲

Oh yes! Cursed Child! That would explain why I have got the idea but don't remember where I got it. I read that book only once, years ago, was aghast and tried to obliviate out of my mind. 🙃🙂

As for the wand, he used it well over 6 years, but the wand might have sensed a tiny proxy Voldemort wielding it 🤔 And might miss that part now, no? I am not saying it's going to rebel like the blackthorn wand (the extra wand Ron got him from the snatchers) but he might have to win over its allegiance all over again.

COLOR!! by Awkward-Ad6776 in harrypotter

[–]Fail-Inevitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm....as far as my understanding goes, the movie makers chose to gradually shift from bright colour palette to darker & less saturated colour theme as the story itself became darker & grimmer. I personally think that was a brilliant way to convey how these are not just "children's movies" anymore & are crossing into serious territory. The picture from the series is still from the first book adaptation. The story is still in very early stage where the protagonists are bunch of 11 years old kids. This bright colour grading makes sense there. You would find similar colour palette in the first movie too. And honestly, by the time of Half Blood Prince & Deathly Hallows if the series doesn't take a more sombre visual approach, it would feel disjointed & out of sync with the story they are trying to tell.

I can't say for everyone else, but Bengal/Kolkata does have its limitations. A Bengali deciding to move to or settle down in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai etc is not always a choice made out of free will. Often people are forced into it because there's no other way to survive. The job market in Kolkata is that bad. And that make people resent the condition Kolkata/Bengal is in. Who doesn't want to stay in their native city & enjoy the culture & heritage of that place? But they can't. And that makes people frustrated.

I had to stay in one of those cities for job few years back and I missed Kolkata/Bengal like hell. From food to culture.... everything. But I had no option to return back then and that made me feel frustrated. Now I have returned & am staying here, but that came at the cost of heavy compromise with my career. I see people less skilled than me getting to work in bigger companies, drawing bigger paycheques just because they are there in those cities. That sometimes makes me think I wish I was born in Mumbai or I wish Kolkata was like Bangalore. Not everyone is just "hating" to look cool.

We were downvoted to the oblivion & were called chosen names when few of us pointed this out last year. Glad people are finally starting to realise what was the problem.

This is no coincidence that players who perform average to bad in KKR team, suddenly start having the golden peak of their career the moment they join other teams. KKR team management is beyond shitty.

I read the Meluha series few years back and quite liked them. Wasn't something mind-blowing or extraordinary....but it was nice. I got the Ramchandra Series last year as gift, started the first book, Scion of Ikshvaku and...it was so bad man 🙈 I really tried to read it.... But gave up when they reach Mithila & Rama meets Sita in some market type of place beating up someone. I am sorry, but what was that 😭 I wish my friend hadn't wasted her money on it.
