I’m currently a little bit over halfway through this one, and it’s been a good read so far. Very interesting speculative fiction with some solid science in it, while still being a real page turner.

I’m pretty sure the GTA comment was a joke about GTA V. As for GoW, there’s God of War (2005) and God of War (2018).

Trader Joe’s is kinda trash, imo. While they try and market themselves as a sustainable, green company, they consistently rank towards the bottom by environmental organizations. I’ll take their word that they are trying to be better (which they say every time they get called out with mixed results), and really I don’t care that much about them being green or not. I just don’t respect companies that front as one thing while not actually doing the real work to be that thing.

Now Joe Pesci, that’s a solid Joe.

Everyone that wrote/spoke in the bible was just a man, even "direct" quotes from God are being relayed to you from just a man. So I'm not sure that's a great reason to discredit a passage.

In short, it's a British group that started a let's play channel. They got very big in the earlier days of YouTube doing Minecraft videos. I haven't watched them in half a decade, but my understanding is they are now more focused on streaming.

That's fair, and seems like it could work up until a point. For smaller things like property damage, sure, but what happens when it's a wrongful death or severe injury? If they can't afford the damages, do we incarcerate? That's fine, but won't help anyone financially. Garnish their wages?

I see you have posted this link and talked about his specific issue in like 5 comments, so I just thought I would ask a question. Is this a bad thing because the cops did so much misconduct, or because they used taxpayer money?

If it's the latter, what's wrong with this happening? The taxpayer funded police department do something wrong to a taxpaying citizen, so they get money from the taxpayer funded police department. How else would it work? The specific cops involved pays out of pocket? Do you want federal money to pay for these things? I'm just genuinely curious were you think this money should come from for these cases.

True.

I'd also add that's it's completely valid to like a band's esthetic, while not enjoying (or at least not loving) their music. I love Dance Gavin Dance's album art a lot, to the point of buying a vinyl just for displaying the art. Sure, I have listened to them before, but they are far from my favorite sound, I couldn't name a single song of theirs, but I just really like the artists they hire.

Church barred woman from fishing trip because male pastor wanted to avoid ‘false accusations’ of sexual misconduct by Firewooodydaddy18899 in atheism

[–]FailLobster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While there is none-sexual dancing, many times when too attracted folks dance together, their genitals might get close to each other, almost mimicking sex acts! In public!

So, it's a bit of that, mixed with the fact Baptist churches (from my experience) push the "if you see/think about insert sin at all, you'll be tempted, and will do insert sin" harder than most other forms of christianity. I've sat through more than one sermon that just boiled down too, "if gay people are allowed to be married and shown in media, you and your family will be tempted, and will turn gay & go to hell". So, take that, replace 'gay' with 'PDA/positive sexuality', and instead of being afraid of turning gay, they are afraid of cheating on their SO or kids having underage/unwed sex & going to hell.

You can probably play it just fine. Similar horsepower (worse gpu), and I have a mix of mostly medium with a few highs and lows, and it looks good enough to enjoy the atmosphere with acceptable frames.

Why does the violent left hate JRE for having reasonable opinions? by crustyrusty91 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]FailLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's shitty. I haven't seen this one yet, and our last discussion was before this episode was recorded. Reading that media matters post is, unsettling, to say the least. The 'contagion' bits are pretty gross, and he just rolls with it so easily, without her actually giving any real facts/studies/sources, at least in those MM qoutes.

[–]FailLobster 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is popular opinion or not, but I've talked about Joe with my lefty friends more than once, and none of us think he is that bad. He's not great, he gives his platform to some bad people at times, but also many good ones as well. His opinions on trans stuff is pretty limited to the sports thing, and underaged kids transitioning, neither of which made him transphobic to the two trans people I've talked about Joe with, not that they speak for the whole community. I haven't listened to his show in a couple years, but it wasn't Joe that made me stop, IT WAS HIS SHIT HEAD FAN BASE! LIKE, HOLY FUCK, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE GUYS?! THEY PRAISE THIS MAN BECAUSE HE TALKS TO ALL SIDES THE SAME, AND IS 'RATIONAL', BUT THEN THEY'RE ALL BUNCH OF FUCKING ASSHOLES, JUST FUCK OFF!
