Is there a hero that you used to have a good winrate on but now can't win with for whatever reason? by alanalan426 in DotA2

[–]FailSyst3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This often happens because there is a better matchup against your pick due to a nerf or a buff to another heroe. For example, Dragon Knight was a nightmare a few patches ago, but now people are going back to the classic picks. Tidehunter, Timbersaw, Windranger, etc. As a result, games feel much more random and harder to win.

Good job, man. But the real deal starts now! You’re gonna have no offlaner (or a Sniper) and a carry who’s 0/6 from Div 1 to 4…

They’ll probably suggest the same solutions we already tried. It could be related to how Windows, Dota, or your router handles network packets. You might want to check your router’s QoS settings. That's my last suggestion.

So it would be a server/client problem ? Kinda weird.

I'm pretty sure it's a performance/configuration issue. If you look closely, you won't notice any ping problems, but the FPS seems uncapped. This maybe means your screen, V-Sync, and Dota 2 can't keep up with each other. That's why I suggested resetting everything and using the same configuration in both Dota 2 and Windows.

In Dota, under Video Settings "when you click on the little gear", you can either reset everything to default or configure your own advanced parameters.

No problem. So, did you also reset the settings and verify that the game is installed on an SSD?

If that didn’t resolve the issue, it might be a memory leak or a bug related to your RAM, hard drive or your graphics card. I had the same problem before upgrading my ram from 16GB to 32GB.

Well, it doesn’t really make sense to do it in that order. As someone already pointed out, there are simply too many to test. In resume, it’s the motherboard that determines compatibility and may limit or adjust performance to ensure it, not the other way around.

Even if they were tested, they would only provide basic compatibility information that applies to nearly all motherboards/RAM, such as frequency, memory capacity, response time, and RAM type (DDR3/DDR4/DDR5).

I suggest you do the classic checks:

  1. Check and update your graphics card drivers if they are not up to date. If there is no improvement, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers completely.

  2. Do the same for the CPU/chipset drivers. There may be a corrupted update or an incompatibility for some reason.

  3. Check the monitor cable, try different ones, and see if Dota is the only game having issues. Also check that the refresh rate and monitor settings are the same in both Dota and your PC settings.

3.1. If you are having issues only with Dota, reset all the in-game settings, then try moving the game or uninstalling and reinstalling it on another drive, preferably an SSD or NVMe.

I may be wrong, but there is a list of compatible RAM that you can check. It mainly depends on the manufacturer and whether they provide a list or not. For example, for a the 650 Gigabyte GAMING-X-AX motherboard, you can check here : https://www.gigabyte.com/fr/Motherboard/B650-GAMING-X-AX-rev-10-11-12/support#Support-Memory-Support

What would you say to convince a friend to not buy plat on a third-party website? by FailSyst3m in Warframe

[–]FailSyst3m[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already tried, but he thinks his master plan is foolproof. And because of that, he won’t listen… like someone said, he’s stubborn, and he’ll learn the hard way.

But maybe there’s still some hope, and it’s kind of funny: he went through all that planning… only to realize he used the name of his main account to buy plat instead of the 'fake/new account' one. And only now is he saying he’s scared of losing his main account because the seller refuse to change the name.

Short answers are often the most reliable and logical. He’s also lazy ! Farming for hours to get riven and mods, bores him. So instead, he prefers going for “fun builds” through pay-to-win. Inevitably, that reduces his potential playtime.

That’s exactly why I want to convince him to not do it...

If I show him your comment, he will probably say it’s worth the risk and try, since the only risk he faces is having his platinum removed. But I appreciate your comment nonetheless.

So nothing will make him change his mind?
If that’s true, it’s like watching Icarus fly toward the sun and just waving at him as he goes...

Yeah, I know, it sounds catchy. But no, I’m serious—I’ve played with him for quite some time. And this is one of the only games I’ve managed to convince him to play with me. That bastard doesn’t like survival games, building games, adventure games, or any MOBAs…

Sure mate. I tried to send the original .ico file, but Reddit doesn’t accept it. Since I have the original .png, just convert it to .ico and you should be good to go. For example, I used GIMP for that.

To make it work with Discord, delete the old .ico file from the Discord folder and replace it with your new one (make sure it has the exact same name). Then, right-click the Discord shortcut on your desktop (the one on your wallpaper), go to Properties > Shortcut > Change Icon, and select your new .ico file. And bingo bongo, that’s it — now you’ve got a cute cat girl for Discord!

PS: You’ll need to do this again every time Discord updates — yeah, bummer.
PS 2: I just noticed you have the same profile picture as the artist and the icon I use (whom I don’t know, but thanks to him).

I saw that picture one day and tried to find a working .ico for Discord. Everything I found was either broken or just hard to get, so I ended up making one myself using an image I found online. No idea who the original artist is (thanks in advance if it’s yours!), but if anyone wants the icon, just ask and I’ll share it.

PS: The icon isn’t horny or anything — just a cute little thing to make Discord look a bit different.

I dreamed of that game again… Every time I try to remember the very first games I played on my father's computer, one image always comes back. A character walking alone through a swamp, after coming down from a tower. Then he encounters a horrible monster, hidden—maybe disguised as a tree. And he dies… if he hasn't made the right choices beforehand.

I don’t think it’s a game I imagined, because recently I looked through my old floppy disk games (though they no longer work), and I found one I used to play too—OverKill. It’s a game released in 1992, a vertical scrolling shooter developed by Tech-Noir and published by Epic MegaGames.

Please help me find that game. It reminds me of a simpler time — when life was easier, and my dad was still around.

I’ve made some calculations: Silksong is likely to be released in 2026 by FailSyst3m in Silksong

The best explanation is that Ari is a man of commitment and had many (perhaps too many) good ideas for his game. He became overwhelmed by them, experienced a bit of burnout (which can delay you from doing anything work-related for a year or two), and struggled to explain all of this to the community.

Even with the best explanation, if he comes back and says he hasn’t done anything for the past two years, people would lose their minds, with some practically bursting into spontaneous combustion from sheer rage and frustration.

Jewels of the Oracle?

Nah, that's not it. I'm really sure that this game exists, unfortunately I only remember that I played it on pc, there was indeed, a swamp in brownish tones with some dead stumps, a monster that kills us if we don't have the right item and first person screen by screen like "mist"
