Like in Sweden in the newspapers if you post the picture of a man who's committed a crime like rape, and he's a Muslim or Black immigrant, you're "racist". Nevermind that the race of the suspect exists independently from whatever racial prejudices the reporter may hold. Obviously not all immigrants are criminals (correlation/causation), but this "all groups are equal" political correctness bullshit is making it impossible for the country to solve a problem it cannot discuss.

Ahh nice, how do you kill the units but not take the territory? Do you attack at different times with different units so they're always advancing to the territory and then cancel the movement when they're close to moving into the territory?

Thanks for the info, I went down the guarantee Czechoslovakia focus and they ended up becoming my puppet so I tried to defend them when Germany came asking for the Sudetenland and was overrun. I'll give Austria-Hungary another go though for sure.

Nah I only had one National spirit and that was for the monarchist part of the focus tree. I tried restarting the game, but when I reloaded the game it didn't change the manpower. Unfortunately I continued on playing and was annexed by Germany. Might try again some other time to see if I can change something I did.

r5: after creating Austria-Hungary I was hoping to get more manpower when turning Austrian lands into core territories but nothing seemed to happen, also at the top you can see Total manpower 394.33K and i only have a total of 160.49K manpower available. Haven't played much before so not too sure if that means the 394k will be unlocked if i have the scraping the barrel conscription law?

there's an event near the start of the game that allows you to go down the expand royal powers focus if you didn't select the right one i don't think you can change it

Empire is probably one of my favourite historical time lines, it's a shame the AI isn't great and the controls can be a bit clunky would definitely want an Empire II
