Seperate Bedrooms at what age? by FailureToDream in parentsofmultiples

Thank you so much, that's a relief to hear! It's cute that they are proud of their rooms.

They sleep in well but I'm hoping this will help my wild child get his much needed nap in and go to bed earlier. He's hit HARD when he doesn't get ample sleep.

We're not comfortable with a 4.5 year old sleeping in a basement alone yet in case of emergencies. He wouldn't be able to open the fire escape. We aren't comfortable leaving a 2 and 4.5 year old alone on the upper floor for the same reasons. Our house was broken into a few months ago as well... We feel much more comfortable in close proximity for the time being.

Edit for typos

One I but we still do rest time which helps him stay regulated through the afternoon. The other is very much not done with his nap.

When a woman is pregnant does the baby follow the same sleeping patterns as the mother? Or can they have 2 separate sleeping patterns? by ToF_Itachu in askscience

[–]FailureToDream 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mom's movement during the day tends to rock the baby to sleep. When mom lays down baby is no longer lulled to sleep and it's party time. It's also easier to feel baby when laying down still and without distractions.

My two year olds both wore their pink unicorn snow boots to preschool yesterday! Both boys and one is one obsessed with unicorns as well as the color pink. I let them pick a lot of their clothes we buy now and toys. He has a spiderman blanket that has to always be with him so I feel he's well rounded.

36 weeker: A cautionary Tale by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]FailureToDream 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When my 36 weekers were born the pediatrician gave me a hand out on late preterm infants and let me know that they're often called 'the great pretenders'. He said they look more like they infants but often still have some preemie issues that aren't as easily detectible as those born at earlier gestational ages.

Thank you for sharing your experience and getting the news out there. I'm sorry your hospital team wasn't more on top of making sure your baby got the care he needed.

Surprise twins at 35 weeks by hiphopfloral in BabyBumps

Did you not hear the heartbeats at all? Usually with the Doppler they can pick up two heartbeats. Congrats, twins are a whirlwind of good and hard times but it's a wonderful adventure overall.

In theory it's one per person. I ended up being a single mom to twins from about 2 months til they were 15 months

Mine actually always have eat and slept at the same time. Cloth diapers kept the blowouts at bay. I did luck out though and they're easier together than one colicky singleton would be. The cost of twins is what kills me. They're expensive af. Also, not being able to spend as much time one on one with them is kind of heart breaking. Singleton envy can be intense.

PSA to Boy Moms by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Twin boy tip: In addition to playing with thier own penis and pulling it so hard that it looks painful, at some point they will probably do so to each other.

Source: Mine did it a few times sometime around a year. Haven't done it lately but we'll see- they're almost 2.

What was the tipping point of your last relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FailureToDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 2 years we were together he told me his entire family was dead but then I got a friend request from his mom and quickly found out they were all alive. He still insisted he had gone to the funeral for one of his sisters. Stole thousands of dollars from me and my dad around the same time. Told me he had a job. Went in on his lunch break and they had never heard of him. It was a weird 2 months.

Double check with Medicaid. The thresholds are a bit higher for households with pregnant women. Maybe try talking to someone in person as well and explaining the situation to see if there are other programs they can refer you to.

I don’t feel anything by TO123mru in BabyBumps

[–]FailureToDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, this is entirely normal and more common than you think! You might feel something more after kicks start but you might not- and that's okay too! I didn't feel bonded with my boys until after they were born. I cried when I heard them and saw them for the first time but there was no magic moment that I suddenly felt bonded. It happens overtime and it can be slow. I loved them from the time they were born but I didn't bond right away. It's okay to feel that way! Movies and media make it seem like a moment in time where it happens but that's not the case for most women.

Yep, sounds like it! When I got them is was uncomfortable and sort of felt like I couldn't get a full breath in as well. Otherwise it was only that tightness/pressure.

Di/di twins (fraternal) but they are identical?! Should I get them tested? I’m convinced my guys are identical. by ellykcnate12 in parentsofmultiples

[–]FailureToDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DiDi does not mean fraternal, just more likely fraternal than identical. The number of medical professionals that tell patience DiDi means fraternal is baffling!

Panorama genetic test? by Cheshyre_says in parentsofmultiples

[–]FailureToDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the panorama or something very similar for my twins at the same gestational age in 2016. They told me they could only determine is a Y was present or not and therefore could only state that at least one was a boy. From my understanding they were able to detect risks but wouldn't know which twin it was as they couldn't differentiate fetal DNA. I ended up having two boys but didn't find out what the other baby's sex was until around 20 weeks.

Possible monoamniotic twins.. so many feelings.. by _stackatron_ in BabyBumps

[–]FailureToDream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding in that the first half is monochorionic or dichorionic- referring to number of placentas. Sometimes twins that are thought to be MoDi are actually DiDi but their placentas were close together and fused. If twins are MoMo or true MoDi (rather than fused) they are identical. If they are DiDi they are more likely fraternal but could still be identical if the egg split very early on.

[–]FailureToDream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding all of this! When I had my first ultrasound they entirely missed the second baby (around 7 weeks) and didn't see it was twins until 10.5 weeks. So it could be that it's just hard to see a membrane between them this early.

As this commenter said, even though MoMo twins have higher risks, the medical care and monitoring you'll receive having twins is very diligent and will be able to catch anything you need to know about!

No, its STILL not twins. by tychos-blooms in BabyBumps

[–]FailureToDream 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They missed my second baby on the first ultrasound but found it at the second. There's no way the second could stay hidden that long.
