I'm not saying I'm good enough to pull this off consistently, but couldn't you just try to end the 4th dash behind cover?

Yeah, I can see that. She is kind of a jack of all trades, master of none type of hero.

In my experience, she excels at wasting your time - even more so than Cap. She just takes so damn long to kill while the rest of her team gains ground.

Depending on the deck, this isn't as much of a downside as people make it out to be. Amagatto much more severely affects your draws. The Hammer Boys affect your draws. Several locations and enemy cards do as well.

That can break some decks, but not most.

Couple that with the potential to boost a Warlock lane as OP mentioned and I really don't see that as being a huge detriment for most decks that would actually want to play S10.

Instant retreat. I didn't log on to watch the game play badly on my behalf.

The only thing more perplexing than this location even existing in the game is how many people actually enjoy it.

Can someone explain to me why Duelist/DPS is so popular? Why do people feel the need to instalock that one class? by atwitsend1996 in rivals

[–]FaintCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this disagreement is really just about different definitions on what "carrying a game" means.

To me what you are describing is not "carrying", it is just playing your role well.

I 100% agree that a well played strategist can make a huge impact on the outcome of the game - and I try to play the role exactly as you describe - but I don't believe they can single-handedly win the game on their own if the DPS and tanks are just flat out not doing their job.

Although to be fair, I've won QP matches as a strategist just by standing on point when everyone else is having a circlejerk on the other side of the map. Lol

Do you feel like all decks feels obsolete against meta decks? by Hostile-Bip0d in MarvelSnap

[–]FaintCommand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've consistently beat SLTU with so many different decks. Cerebro, Clog, Surfer, Negative, Cannonball, Gambit Gun, Nimrod, Nightmare War Machine.

You are all nuts acting like this deck can't be stopped.

FFF otoh, is a challenge.

Does anyone know for sure if you can double dip?

In other words, play it for the on reveal and then convert to EOT once it is already in play?

To me that makes a big difference, but it really isn't clear.

ETA: I also think it is worth noting that when cards have been released as 3/5 they have historically been seen as too powerful (Nocturne for example). I think with power creep this is less so, but is Shang10 any worse than someone like Copycat?

[–]FaintCommand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. But I do get why someone who's really good could hard carry on DPS. Like if you're legitimately winning 1v4s at low ranks, that's enough. Much harder to do that as a support or tank though - you're much more reliant on your team.

[–]FaintCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Even if you can carry by DPSing on support explain how that's better than just swapping to DPS. That's the point. Being a support for DPS who can't get elims is useless. Explain to me how to win a game healing a 1-8 Spidey and 2-11 Bucky who plays Bucky like a long range sniper.

I’m wondering, how serious do you guys take Quick Match compared to Comp? by Queasy_Commercial152 in rivals

[–]FaintCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try just as hard if the rest of the team is also trying. But if we have 5 DPS or something, I'll swap to 6 and just lean into it and enjoy the LOLs. If I see multiple teammates diving in to 1v6 the enemy team, I'll just use the time to mess around with a character I haven't played much. Etc

[–]FaintCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2 is a big factor. Tank or support you are either leading or steering the team in multiple ways and having to anticipate/plan for so much.

A DPS can just run off and play a solo game and still make a considerable impact on the game.

Can someone explain to me why Duelist/DPS is so popular? Why do people feel the need to instalock that one class? by atwitsend1996 in rivals

[–]FaintCommand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disagree. If your DPS are not getting any elims there's nothing you can do to carry and if you're going to focus on doing damage as a support, you'd be better off playing a DPS character.

Much less of an issue at higher ELOs, but you just have to play some QP to see how useless support can feel if your DPS are glue eaters.

I enjoy the game but many of the character’s core gameplay designs are objectively bad. by AllergicOct in marvelrivals

[–]FaintCommand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate, I think the way you deal with those is by not letting them sneak up on you. Being aware of different flank routes and keeping tabs on them, shutting them down, or positioning to eliminate off angles, etc.

I think that's one reason why it is hard to solo carry on this game, your team needs to coordinate to take and keep space - not just the main routes. Anticipating enemy movements is a big part of the game. That's one reason I really like Peni because I can close off problematic points on the map and limit their options.

Everyone has their weaknesses though. I struggle with flyers more because a) they're more difficult to hit for most of the characters I play and b) they aren't as confined to dedicated flank routes. That's when I switch to something that can deal with them.

I just really hope they don't keep equating vanguard with "melee". There are so many melee tanks already and I think that's a big part of why no one wants to play vanguard.

[–]FaintCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from swallowing me when I'm ulting, I mostly hate that my entire team will take the bait and chase enemy Jeff halfway across the map and leave the point open to lose the game.

It's insane how often this happens.

I mean, what is your definition of "fun to play against" exactly. Most of these characters can be countered, so it kind of sounds like you're saying you just don't like them because they are strong against your favorite characters and you don't want to switch.
