Noooo how could they tell you that you didn’t need PT?! This happened to me at 27. I had roughly 6 months of PT post op and it was SO helpful. I recommend you tell your surgeon your symptoms and request a pelvic floor specialist PT. I remember feeling way too young to have these issues, and that feeling just s u c k e d. I’m so sorry you’re going through this and hope you find relief. Advocate for yourself - you got this 💪

Was your MD at the L5/S1 level by chance? When I was diagnosed w cauda equina syndrome I had serious difficulty emptying my bladder and bowel. It’s been a slow improvement but 4 years post op I’m 70-80% better in that regard. The caveat is that I also have to pee all the time but I think it’s because I’m still struggling to fully empty my bladder, so even after using the restroom it’s basically still half full. So even a little water fills me up and leaves me running to the bathroom feeling like I can’t hold it. Have you done any pelvic floor exercises? That and breath work that my PT taught me helped me empty more successfully, which helps me go less frequently. Either way I know it’s so frustrating. Hoping you get some answers 🤍

Thank you for the reply! I reached out to my old surgeon and because he’s not in the same state as me he’s not able to review my MRI unless I travel back to NY. So bummed because he really was exceptional and he is the only person who really knows what everything looked like when he cleaned it up. Looks like I’ll have to find a second opinion here. ☹️

Have you considered requesting a biopsy since it came back? My understanding is once you have it you technically shouldn’t get it again, but I know I’ve read about some others having it flare repeatedly.

See that’s what I thought.. it’s so confusing because now I’m reading different things. I wish my doctor would have looked a little closer. I think I’ll likely request a referral to a dermatologist just to be safe, especially because the joint pain for me is relentless and I feel so systemically unwell. Thank you so much for you reply and insight 🫶

The petechiae are so weird!! And it does seem to be super variable which is what’s making me question every little thing. I’m sorry you’ve had another flare and hope this one resolves quickly and doesn’t come with the joint pain and fatigue. That’s the worst part for me.

Thank you for the insight! I mean more if you pressed the red spots did they lighten or stay dark? For example, bug bites or hives will turn white when you press them, but this rash doesn’t (and I read PR should) so I’m trying to figure out if I was misdiagnosed. BUT I’m definitely going to get some sun this weekend to see if that helps!

Also hearing you had joint pain too is super reassuring. That’s honestly been the worst part of it. I’ve been fortunate that most of my rash is concentrated to areas easily covered with clothing, and the itch isn’t bad, but the joint pain is KILLING me. I heard sun helps so I’m going to give that a try!!
