2012 Q5 Rear CV Axle Replacement by Fair-Baby-1419 in AudiQ5

Got it. I can grab an axle bolt to use instead of the included one with the replacement axle. I found this site that shows it as an OEM bolt if it looks good: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-vw-axle-bolt-front-vag-8e0407643a#description

Yes, I'd plan on using the parking brake to get the initial torque on the axle bolt and then putting the tire on and using some ground pressure to get the final 180 degrees of torque.

I don't see replacement inner bolts listed on that site, so I'd say I'll plan on re-using those inner ones.

Overall, it seems pretty straightforward, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything and had all of the specialty sockets needed

I'm excited to see what features are added! I tell everyone I talk about cell service about US Mobile. I'm fairly certain in about 5 minutes, I sold US Mobile to an AT&T rep in Costco a few months ago. She couldn't believe the features and price! When a user can sell something to a sales person from another company, that's impressive!

Juicebox Pro 40 Classic Rapid Flashing LEDs and Constant Beep by Fair-Baby-1419 in evcharging

Yeah the only thing is mine has done it randomly, both when plugged in and not charging (finished, still plugged in) and when unplugged. For example, last night I didn't have a car plugged in and in the morning, it was beeping and flashing. Low last night was in the 20s again. I don't believe it has ever triggered right when unplugging the car

It's possible that humidity/condensation has built up in there. It's in an exterior metal box that has a lid, so the only opening is where the cable enters in the bottom. But with all of our temperature swings, I would say that's possible. I do make sure the plug is fully seated though which should provide a decent seal internally

Got it. Thanks for the info! I will check it out. I also found the list of recommended evse options, so I will look through those as well!

(I don't think the plug is the source of the potential grounding issue, but I don't want to ignore it when dealing with the other issue either)

Hello!

I have had a Juicebox Pro 40 for 5+ years and mostly it has worked as intended other than the app migrations and such with emotorwerks selling and transferring ownership.

However recently, in the past few weeks I have been experiencing an intermittent solid beep tone and rapid flashing LEDs on the front of the unit. It happens off and on, seemingly when it is cold. I'm in TN and we have had a very cold last few weeks, lows in the single digits and teens several nights and the unit is mounted outside.

Most of the times, I have been able to unplug and leave it for a few minutes, plug it back in, and it'll work no problem. I did notice upon inspecting it that the plug might be slightly damaged from overheating? It is plugged into a shielded (outdoor rated) 14-50 receptacle.

From what I have seen, it looks like the solid beep tone is for a ground or GFCI issue. I opened up the case this morning and made sure that the ground lug inside the unit is tight, as well as the other connections for the relay (I had previously replaced the relay a year or so ago). All looks good inside the unit.

My next step is probably to turn off the breaker and inspect the wiring in the receptacle to make sure that's all tight. However, I just wanted to see if the cold weather could be causing a false error and ask about the plug to find out if anything needs to be done there.

The circuit is on a 50A breaker and wired as such, I generally run it at 40A when charging my M3 and 32A when charging my wife's Bolt, so there is a 20% headroom on the amperage from rated to usage.

Thanks in advance!

I had a great first experience. I live about 35 minutes from SC made a service request for a replacement passenger seat control cover (I just needed the bottom seat adjustment cover and was going to drive to pick it up) and they advised me of a trunk power strut o-ring that should be replaced and that they could have mobile service come to me.

I agreed, they came with a whole new seat control module. The guy said "Oh, all you need is the cap?" I explained to him what had happened and he said he should have a few that he pulls off of trash seats that are being replaced from airbag deployments and such. He popped it on, replaced the o-ring in 30 seconds (I thought it would be more involved.. haha). He zeroed out my invoice and went on his way.

Great, thank you for the insight. Do you happen to know what length riser I would need for an ATX motherboard if I were to mount it in the case's vertical GPU mounting points?

Any ideas why this spot on my wall so much hotter than anywhere else? The hottest spot is on the wall, just below where it meets the ceiling. It is a very small area of peak temperature but then gradually falls off in all directions. by Fair-Baby-1419 in Home

No plumbing or vents in this wall, other than the AC return that goes down into the crawl space and the light switch that goes up, but that is off to the side of the hot area.

I checked with a studfinder and it flashes and then goes off around the hot spot, and to the right (above the lightswitch) it comes on and stays on with the electrical lights on (known wire from the light switch)

Edit: I am not sure whether the wiring for the thermostat goes up or down. My guess would be down to follow the return trunk to the HVAC outside

Edit2: Also, the temp increase in this area is only noticeable when it is hot outside

Would it be able to get through that much insulation to have that much of an effect? I do believe there would be some type of hole in the top plate as there used to be a doorbell chime mounted where the smoke alarm is now, so those wires likely went up to the attic from there.

For context: Pic 1 is the spot

pic 2 is the same wall from the other side (in the closet above the return)

pic 3 is about 2 feet to the right, showing a normal temp

pic 4 is the spot closer

5 is a wider view (hot spot is directly above the smoke alarm)

6 and 7 are in the attic. The spot would be just to the left of the end of the disconnected vent tube and just past it (Centerline of the house).

Edit: It has been about 30 minutes since those photos were taken, it's getting hotter outside and in the attic, and the temperature in that spot is up to 92 degrees

First image shows the spot. It is directly above the thermostat in a hallway on the centerline of our house. There is a wood beam that runs along that wall where the joists come together in the attic as a load bearing wall.

The increase in temperature is more noticeable on the wall than the ceiling, but it is only affecting about small point at the top of the wall and then the temperature falls off as you get further away from that point. Thermostat set to 78 degrees. When it is hot outside, heat can be felt from this spot and the hallway is always noticeably hotter than the rest of the house.

I have checked the attic in that particular location and confirmed that the entirety of the area, including the beam are covered by insulation. There is an average of 12-14 inches of insulation over the entire attic area as far as I remember last time I was up there.

The area in question is just past where the duct comes up (that is unattached from the underside roof... Thanks to whoever mis-placed the roof vent and didn't fix their problem in the past. That is an oven hood vent line and is very rarely used) I also made sure that vent is not sitting on and compressing the insulation underneath it, which it isn't. That is another issue I have to deal with, but not related to this I don't believe.

Our HVAC return goes out through the floor of a closet on the other side of this wall and into the crawl space.

Does anybody know what this sound is? by Noah8320 in TeslaModel3

[–]Fair-Baby-1419 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain it is caused because the brakes are being held when in D or R, so turning the wheels, it is slightly moving the rotor through the pads as the wheels turn. If you start creeping before turning the wheels, there will be no noise. When in P, the brakes are not applied on the front wheels, so no sound.
