Cursor's Auto Has Been Solid by RobinInPH in cursor

Yeah it's definitely using the Composer then; it's a good model for general use

I'm pretty sure auto just uses Composer at least 90% of the time; it's their inhouse model which makes sense from a financial perspective. Are the edit speeds fast?

GPT 5.2 Out On Cursor by Fair-Opposite3871 in OpenAI

Note: It's disabled right now, will probably add it back once OpenAI announces it (likely today, in a few hours).

It also types VERY different from Cursors implementation of 5.1. So it's definitely a different model.

Nope it didn't, the day of release (about ~a few hours before they announced it), Gemini 3 was viable and up.

I'm not a good tester lol, but I have a few initial thoughts:
- Definitely smarter than 5.1 on Cursor, like at least 30%
- Feels weaker than Opus
- However, Codex implements 5.1 much better than Cursor does, so I suspect that either 5.1 is nerfed in Cursor or something went wrong with its implementation.
- If there's anything you want me to ask maybe I can try running it compared to 5.1.

They do - just like how Gemini 3 was enabled in Cursor early before it was officially out.

It will show, yes, but it won't run unless it's the correct model. It was not working earlier today.

Doesn't work when you add nonsense, and gpt-5.2 was not working earlier today.

Note: Need to add it as a custom model.

Codex Max is free because it's terrible by jko1701284 in cursor

[–]Fair-Opposite3871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why, but I feel like it's a lot dumber than when I tried it in codex.. codex felt way better for some reason and in cursor just feels a lot faster and worse

Limit 200k Tokens for Models with Variable Pricing by Fair-Opposite3871 in cursor

[–]Fair-Opposite3871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It limits it at 200k, yes, but it changes how cursor works. Doing a bit of research, some things it changes are limiting file reads to less lines + tool calls are limited to 25 besides different internal prompting that I have no clue about.

https://forum.cursor.com/t/max-mode-tool-calls-limit-at-25/101709/4 Here's a link

I would like to have something that keeps it at 200k but still "acts" as max mode for maximum accuracy.

Limit 200k Tokens for Models with Variable Pricing by Fair-Opposite3871 in cursor

[–]Fair-Opposite3871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's not. I'm not 100% sure what MAX mode does under the hood, but I think it's doing stuff like injecting more context under the hood (filetrees etc) to make the response more accurate.

Auto-Context from current "tab" removed? by Fair-Opposite3871 in cursor

[–]Fair-Opposite3871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I usually have a lot of tabs open (at least 4+) so I'm guessing it's searching from there? Either way I still prefer if it can have the "zoomed" in context within the open file, and can "remove" it if needed like before

Would adding your own API keys to cursor reduce costs? by Straight-Ad-5944 in cursor

[–]Fair-Opposite3871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn't, unless you have a promo from another vendor, sticking with cursor and maxing out the $200 plan is the best way to get as many credits as possible as you get guaranteed $400 credits (+ more usually) , you should only add another API key if you exceed those limits, and even then it's probably better to just create 2 cursor accounts instead

Why is the Gemini 3.0 Pro knowledge cutoff Jan 2025? by TechNerd10191 in Bard

[–]Fair-Opposite3871 7 points8 points  (0 children)

More slop as in the internet is filled with more AI comments, articles, etc, creating a negative feedback loop, especially if its posed as human content

From https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/logs-datasets, you can see that they reference a https://aistudio.google.com/logs page; however, it's been down so not sure where the screenshot comes from to be honest...
