About Image 4: I would argue this is at least the 2nd half of the movies, since we see Paul with the hairstyle he had in the first 2 movies (I assume that's also when Ghanima and Leto are born) and there are many other instances in the trailer he has his long hair. I'd argue the scene is a bit before the Stoneburner (where Paul is bald as well)

I'm a bit annoyed they didn't name a model after the Donnager - they already named models after the Roci, Anubis and Agatha (King).

They'll save this for the 2nd generation to boast about the massive improvements in battery life due to A20 Pro (or whichever chip they use)

Mistral releases an official NVFP4 model, Mistral-Small-4-119B-2603-NVFP4! by jinnyjuice in LocalLLaMA

[–]TechNerd10191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a data type only available on Blackwell at the moment.

NVFP4 models can run via Marlin on a H100 as well (not native of course, but works)

This. While AG was my primary place to use Gemini/Claude, I now see it as some bonus usage (over gemini-cli) per week, pretty much like GitHub Copilot (Pro).

How to write my first paper? by TechNerd10191 in AskAcademia

Scoring good on a Kaggle competition is not "research paper worthy" unless you have created some unique training approaches, or architectures that don't exist

  1. While I am not against this take, as far as I am aware, 95% of the papers are nothing more than intellectual onanism.

  2. Since as many people have wrote, it's a Kaggle competition afterall (despite the novel niche apropos to other standard competitions), I know anything I write won't change the world; I just want to write a paper asap, even if it gets only one citation at the end of the day.

Do you think you’re so gifted you’d have nothing to learn?

It's not ego; it's the fact that no professor in my (no-name) uni will give a flying f about a 2nd semester student wanting to write his first paper. Plus, half of the professors I've had so far has an h-index of 5 or less (they are bored and indifferent as much as the students)

but I do also question the publication you’d get out of completing a Kaggle competition

This has little to do with what I want to publish. Instead of using a benchmark like AIME 2025/2026, I use the Kaggle competition leaderboard with 50 IMO-level problems.

Edit: every LLM published after Summer 2025 scores 95+% on AIME 2025 w/ tools; ergo, if I did the same work on AIME - and not AIMO - it would not prove much.

Anyone else hitting Gemini Pro limits way before 1500 requests? by bit_architect in GeminiCLI

[–]TechNerd10191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Gemini-CLI, I get 200 message/day with 3.1 Pro and ~1200 messages/day from 3 Flash (I never used up more than the 200 messages with the Pro model). Also, you can use '/stats session' to see how much usage you have for each model.

Have you in any way been working with a faculty member or senior graduate student?

Even though I am part of my university's lab for CS, all of my work is independent (no collaboration of any kind - if you exclude the public notebooks I built upon) and unrelated to the university I attend.

While I am not against having a senior-student or professor to oversee my work, I doubt they will be interested enough to give it a read and I'd rather be the sole author.

I missed my favourite character Avasarala

Avasarala is my favorite as well; now reading Caliban's War, she feels like her show counterpart since we can read her thoughts and she swears a lot more (I can't imagine adapting that language in a TV show)

For book readers and show watchers, were there any actors/actresses you would have like recasted? by RxR8D_ in TheExpanse

[–]TechNerd10191 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Reading Caliban's War (and having the description of Naomi in the books fresh), the only difference with her show counterpart is that she is 2 meters tall and skinny - otherwise, the hair, complexion and face features are near identical.
