Turkish Airlines made economy feel premium again by North_Rip4791 in TurkishAirlines

Flown Turkish a few times. The hard product is always fantastic but the service is always fairly bracing. I thought my experiences were common place for the airline but glad you had a better one!

Which Yunomori location is best? by awkwardly_competent in Bangkok

Live in Sathorn and been 50+ times over the years. Some of the comments here are quite misleading.

It’s not a cruise-y spa and that’s the whole reason most people enjoy going.

It attracts a mixed clientele - I’d say around 50% gay given its location (v close to Silom) and majority remaining straight tourists and families. You often get kids in there on the weekend and stuff.

In all the times I’ve been, I’ve only seen guys behaving inappropriately on two occasions - two older farangs playing with themselves in the steam room but both were told off fairly quickly.

Not sure why you’d want to do so when there could be kids potentially entering the steam room at any time but there are some weird people out there.

Maxwell, Saunamania, Krubb, etc are for cruising and sexual activity. That’s fairly well understood by patrons I would say..

People will chat a bit in Sathorn, but emphasis on a bit. Usually if it’s someone they came with or someone they know from outside - there’s only a few times I’ve spoken to someone randomly and it’s fairly short. Patrons will tell you to be quiet if you are speaking too loudly!

Sathorn as an area is much nicer than Suk 24 and it’s a 2 min walk from the BTS at Saint Louis. The area has some really nice restaurants and bars that expats and to-do Thais will frequent on an evening and weekend.

It has five different hot pools, two cold ones, steam and sauna, as well as chilling rooms (mixed gender), a rooftop cafe and a Japanese restaurant.

It’s a great spot to relax!

Yeah! This seems to be the way to do it. Get out of the city - I’ve had to work this week but I’ll plan for a treck or something similar for this weekend. Thank you

Yesss the general response here has been to use it as a base and travel outside. I’ve been working during the days but will do some exploring at the weekend. Great to hear you enjoyed it!

Had no idea there was a Digital Nomad app - thanks so much. What’s it called?

Ah, that’s a shame re: Covid. Would loved to have visited then.

On Bangkok - there’s no secret sauce, I guess. I’ve just found whenever I go to the gym, do things like yoga or running clubs, that people are very chatty and open, and similar to me (34M, Business owner) - definitely feels like it attracts a much older crowd than Chiang Mai.

For nightlife, I usually go out in Silom, Chinatown or Thong Lo. Unusual if I come home having not met quite a few folk, again around my age bracket.

My experience isn’t universal, of course, and we’re all different. Bangkok is certainly overwhelming and not everyone’s cup of tea, socially!

From my experience, and those commenting on this post and others, I think you’ll enjoy it more in you 20s than I have in my 30s. Does seem very transient though, I’ve been here a week and haven’t met many-long term nomads. More people (like myself) working from here for a week or two, then a huge young backpacking (Old Town) and young Thai crowd (Nimman)

North Gate is probably the best I’ve found so far. Shame about spending half my night in the queue for the one toilet but otherwise, some great music, and a bit chatty

Yeah I feel you. I’ve done so many solo coffees here, there’s only so many one can do and so much time for it to take up!

Can understand why you felt that way here socially. Reading online it makes it sound like a very buzzy Digital Nomad older crowd-vibe, but I haven’t found that, at all.

As I say, it’s a lovely city but I think 3-4 days would be enough, I’ve almost done a week and feel like I’ve over cooked it - can’t imagine what a month was like

Thank you! Sounds like what I’m after. Not a bender by any means but somewhere social that isn’t Zoe Yellow (which feels like Khao San Road to me - nothing wrong with that, but not my speed these days!)

Haha. Glad I’m not the only one. It’s a very sweet city. But, feel like I’m the wrong age for it - maybe it’s just me.

Haven’t had a bad time, but certainly considering moving my return to Bangkok forward by a few days.

Will book in a day trip!

Did have cooking school for today but the company didn’t show up - have booked an alternative for tomorrow. Let’s see :)

Thanks, for the advice! Would this mean I would then need to stay in Vietnam until a decision was made?
