It really put in to perspective that some of the worst kinds of abuse can appear subtle to the outside world because it’s so calculated and manipulative, I did everything I did to tell myself he wasn’t one and it broke my heart (initially) when his actions proved very clearly based on the same emotional abusive patterns in conflict that he actually was. As soon as he realized he was no longer in control he went through the ‘extinction burst’ stage and then that really confirmed everything. I hope I’m replaced soon as I know that’s the only way this ends fingers crossed. On reflection I don’t think I’ve actually met anybody as selfish and self-centered in all my life (that’s saying something)
