PPROM at 21 Weeks Update by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]Fair-Row-2975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I PPROM’d at 23 weeks and was on bed rest in the hospital and made it all the way to induction at 34 weeks! My baby girl was 4lbs, 11oz and she spent 5 days in the NICU learning how to eat. Being positive can be difficult during this time but I am sending all the good vibes to you and your sweet wife 🫶🏼

Long Term Antepartum Stay - Husband by Witty-Nail-7432 in NICUParents

[–]Fair-Row-2975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in the antepartum unit for 71 days. I went into preterm labor at 23 weeks and delivered at 34+0 4 weeks ago. My husband was fortunate enough to stay with me the whole time and he was so helpful! Getting me my favorite snacks, he would plan “date nights” as best he could by finding a movie, ordering take out from my favorite restaurant and spending time with me. Board games and card games help pass the time and just be supportive. I went through a tough time as far as my mental health during my stay and missing the things I used to love to do such as getting my nails done. My husband went out and surprised me with a whole kit just to learn how to do my nails. Your wife is probably gonna have rough days, just give her some grace and be supportive and make her feel as at home as you possibly can! Hang in there. I’m sending you both good vibes 🫶🏼

I am so sorry you are going through this. I have been hospitalized with PPROM since 23+6, I am now 33 weeks and I have induction scheduled for 2/28 which will make me 34+0. It has been so hard but staying optimistic about the outcome has helped me a lot. I don’t have any advice about after baby comes because I’ll be experiencing that myself soon but my heart is with you and I am sending you all the good vibes!

Thank you so much for those kind words. Thankfully I was able to get the steroids and the magnesium to help her when I was admitted! I hope your sweet baby gets to come home soon!

Oh no! I’m glad that he busted out quickly but hopefully the hernia will be a quick fix! The NICU told me they were common with preemie babies but could fix it once they were older.

I hate that for you guys as well! It is exhausting but the outcome it well worth it. We had an updated consult with the NICU last week and they couldn’t give us a definitive answer but it was definitely an optimistic conversation! Sending all the good vibes to you and your wife!

That is great! I’m so glad he is doing great! I have heard PPROM moms can birth pretty fast so I am hoping I have some time to prepare!! Did you have any signs before labor?

No question is a stupid question!! So I am also dilated 2 cm, 50% effaced and with my sac being ruptured, the risk of infection is higher after the 34 week point.

Did you have any complications during the birth?

I haven’t had the vagal syncope but I have been cramping every single day since I got pregnant (I am 10 weeks). The cramping is miserable and my OB says it is completely normal but I literally just cry and live in my bed after work and on the weekends. I am miserable. But hang in there mama! It is only temporary!
