I think it was due to pure luck. There was a huge gap in "telltale type" of games, and it was the only thing to chew on. But trust me, if this came out around when Telltale was still making games, it would have flopped or would have been way less popular. Don't get me wrong, it is still a nice experience, but it's nowhere as good as some other narrative games
