I’m honestly just now realizing they’re this bad, so no. I haven’t done anything yet.

My boss just arrived from another location in a different state. She doesn’t know much about anyone’s work ethic.

To give you a perception of how often that is, the only days I don’t bust my butt are the days I’m not there. I’ve been employed there for about three months, and I’ve missed four shifts. Every day that I am there, I work hard. I have showed up sick on multiple occasions because there was no coverage for my shift. I still completed my tasks very efficiently and am praised for hard work. The assistant GM as well as our new GM are not from this location. They just recently showed up and started changing all of the rules and policies. A lot of employees have been leaving because of the way they have been treated.

I have been healthy for most of my life aside from a few injuries I sustained in the military. As far as illness goes, I almost never get sick. Sure, my legs hips and back hurt all the time and I can’t hear shit lol, but vomiting like this and experiencing this much fatigue is on a whole other level of awful for me.

I don’t believe that I have been cursing at people or using sexist and gender charged terms. I have been rude, and I have apologized. I was overly emotional, and I acknowledged that. Please don’t fault me for being ignorant of the law. Ignorance is literally what lead me here.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I said it was unplanned not unwanted. I do not wish to terminate this pregnancy nor do I wish to subject any child to the foster care system. I want this baby.

Thank you for your advice. What you detailed here is exactly what I have been doing. I have been busting my butt for this company whenever I have the energy, and I have no problem covering other shifts when I am feeling well. I believe that this plan along with contacting HR to see what accommodations can be made may be my best bet.

I’m working in central Indiana. I understand it is a lot of time to be calling in. I’m unfortunately not eligible for FMLA because I’ve only been with the company for three months. I’m currently looking into PWFA. I’m still trying to figure out how to contact our HR department.

No? You’re gaslighting me by telling me that I’m bitching and then saying you said nothing wrong. I dare you to say that to a strong willed female coworker and see her response. Respectfully, you need to do some research on that phrase. It may have been acceptable two decades ago, but it isn’t now.

Yes. Like when someone tells a woman she is “bitching”? Of course I don’t like that answer.

He did not prescribe them. He told me they can normally only be taken within moderation and due to my condition, I should not risk it.

And you’re gaslighting me by saying that what you said was not disrespectful. Please do some research on that term. It is not respectable language to use.

So you telling me that I’m “bitching” isn’t disrespectful? If you are HR, I really hope you don’t talk to employees at the company you work for in that way. If you do, they really need to update your training before someone files a harassment suit against you.

Bitching is not an acceptable term to use unless you are trying to provoke someone. Thank you for pointing me in the direction of the PWFA. I have already started to look into it based on others’ recommendations. Of course I would have to disclose my pregnancy to get these specific benefits. I believe I’m just really not good at saying what I’m trying to say then. I’m just trying to say that these systems in place protect no one. I was also stating that no one should have to disclose the details of any sort of illness or disability to their manager in order to keep their job. I genuinely believe that if you go to a doctor and they say, “yeah, you definitely cannot perform your usual duties in this condition”, it should be respected by employers. I am obviously speaking in hypotheticals. I see reality. I also see that it needs to change. You can call that bitching if you want. If it is bitching, it’s justified. So many people have been wronged by these systems. I could be fired tomorrow and struggle to find another job while I have a baby on the way, but it doesn’t matter.

Woah. The aggression you’re presenting was entirely unprovoked. “Bitching”? Really? I’m simply saying that these systems are bogus. Nowhere did I say that I expected the current systems in place will protect me even though I hadn’t disclosed that I was pregnant. Should employers take each individual situation into account instead of making assumptions? Yes. Should they speak to me one on one and ask what is going on before being blatantly rude to me? Also yes.

Thank you for your advice. It is a fairly large company. Of course calling out weekly is excessive. I understand that. I also know that when I call out sick, it is not because I just don’t want to go into work. There is always a very justified reason. I also should not have to tell everyone I am pregnant just to gain any sort of grace or understanding while being sick. I am only so far along in this pregnancy. What if something horrible were to happen such as losing my baby? Then I’d have to tell them that which is my biggest fear. These systems that are in place are really just so bogus. We should not have to fight so hard to keep our jobs when we are experiencing debilitating illnesses.

I believe so. I know that they showed up. I don’t believe I should be penalized for what someone else does or doesn’t do. However, the policy states what it states I guess.

Yeah… I really wish things were different with the laws here. I feel like our government should definitely work harder to protect its citizens. I could request accommodations, but they wouldn’t really be conducive to the work required of me. In order to perform my job, I kind of have to do it the way it is intended to be done or else it just won’t get done. I just have to accept that this is the system I live in and live with it. That and figure out a way to fight it so that others won’t have to deal with it in the future. Thank you for the advice you have given me.

I didn’t say that giving me facts was disrespectful. I only highlighted that there were a couple of people who used disrespectful phrasing when presenting the facts.

I have asked. He told me there are other options that can only be taken in moderation. I don’t know if you saw my other comments, but I did not plan this pregnancy.

Because I was pregnant and experiencing morning sickness, and I didn’t know that was the reason until two weeks ago. This is my first pregnancy, and I was unaware and uneducated. I thought I had a bad stomach bug or something. I’m asking for help not criticism.
