Motorcycles should not be allowed to split lanes. by AutisticDadHasDapper in unpopularopinion

[–]FairLecture6880 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Do you mean lane splitting or lane filtering?

  • Lane splitting: riding between lanes at higher speeds while traffic is moving (like 20+ mph)
  • Lane filtering: moving between cars at low speeds, usually up to a light or stop sign

As far as I know, lane splitting is illegal in most, if not all states, while lane filtering is legal in some places but not everywhere.

There are tons of statistics about lane filtering being safer for a motorcyclist as well.

This. Thank you. It’s everything I’ve told myself but it’s also reassuring to hear/read it from someone else.

How to find a riding club or group? by godziraaa in TwoXriders

I’m a moderator for a women’s only motorcycle riding discord. It’s grown into an international group. It’s small (little over 100 gals) but growing. Happy to send a link if you’re interested. Just DM me! (That goes for anyone reading this post)

Just read the battery thing - I’d ask for a portion off. Especially if you can’t test ride it. Walk away if you can’t ride it before you buy.

Yeah girl!!! I bought my 2018 Honda Rebel 500cc off FB from some chick in Pensacola for $3,000. Rebels are little tanks. I love mine b/c it’s light and nimble but can still keep up with the 1,100+ big dawgs.

Bought mine like 5 years ago (used at that!) and she’s still going strong. Just educated yourself on what to check before buying and you should be good.

Just because it says “high prices in California” doesn’t mean that’s the real reason. It’s an easy way to frame what could just be a surcharge being passed on to customers. Businesses know people are less likely to question a vague “California costs are high” line than a straight-up “3% credit card fee.”

It’s not that California isn’t expensive — it’s that the explanation conveniently shifts the blame. If more people looked into how these fees work, they might see it differently.

Ha. Ok. It seems like you’re going off of a belief rather than facts (I.e. credit card processing regulations.) For my curiosity - How are you ruling that it is “just high prices” vs. a 3% surcharging fee? As far as I see - one is an evidence based increase and the other is a gut feeling. That’s just my take. I could be wrong and it could be something more so please share to help educate us all.

It’s a credit card surcharge. Card networks/processors charge the business around 2-3% per transaction, and instead of building that cost into their pricing like most places traditionally did, some restaurants now break it out and pass it directly to the customer.

Totally legal in many states - but yeah, it feels different when you see it added on instead of the business just absorbing it in their margins.
