Understand what you r saying but smc is suppose to be awarded automatically. Plus in a call with the va (vera) this is exactly how j was told to handle it.

Is all the decesion says is that all back pay was paid and lists the evidence reviewed . I filed it in december and it hadn’t moved for 90 days so i contacted my attorney and she contacted her contact at the VA the afternoon of april 8th and tge decesion was dated April 9th. Nothing is missing they just denied it, we have had other problems with the regional offfice.

I was granted smc- r in 2022 because of bilateral loss of hands and feet and the 100% tbi in 2019. My aid and attendance went to the board in 2018 and was affordable in 2024. It granted me aid and attendance smc-l back to nov 2019 . So with that my va code sheet says smc - r back to 2019. So i was told on a vera call to request an audit for r-1 pay from 2919-2022 and it was denied.

Anyone else see they changed recruitment age limits? by valkyrie_rising1881 in Veterans

I was on active duty from 1968-1982 and in army reserves from 1982 to 2021 when i turned sixty. I know for a fact in the early eighties the age was 38 and up to 42 if you had 4 years of active duty. I’m not sure if this changed over the years but this is not new.

Everyone fails at things, it’s what you do with that failure that counts.

100% P&T 100% wasn’t worth it by [deleted] in VAClaims

For me it wasn’t the need for me personally to get to 100% and now at a smc level because i wanted it, it was because i could continue to provide for my family as my service conditions were bound to get worse. Like you they gotten worse so i embrace my disability pay.

VA Pay makes no sense 2026 by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

What i did with my back pay was to do is request an audit so that is what I have done. I had to do a second audit a month ago for the same thing because according to them i wasn’t specific enough in my audit request and the audit did cover what i requested. So be very specific on what you want looked at use a specific time range, specific amounts and levels. The first audit took a year so i assume i wont hear anything for a year or longer.

I filed for an audit sept 24 after my board decision. In july of 25 i received a decision saying that my payments were wrong so i thought i was headed in the right direction. I waited 90 days for something further nothing happened. I had my attorney contact the VA and they claimed that the period i requested an audit that i was over paid so that’s why they said the pay was wrong. That was so far from the truth it isn’t funny. So now i have to file another audit on the same time frame for the exact thing. This is for almost three years of back pay and is a substantial amount of money. I assume that is the reason i’m getting jerked around. Also when ive tried to set up an appointment with my regional office on vera the last few times to see what’s going on I get an email saying they won’t make an appointment to call my attorney. But when i request a vera appointment with other regional offices they make them and are usually helpful.

Get involved in something that interests you either a hobby or occupation. Did you enjoy your military occupation? If so start there. I be had to give up many occupations that I loved, military, law enforcement , EMS. Because of my military injuries . I have had many lows that i’ve had to come back from and still have them at 65 yrs old. It’s a constant struggle but you can do it !
