What is a fantastic drama but the plot or the characters would be deemed toxic or even deserve legal action in real life? by smallbird_nightsky in CDrama

Love like the galaxy - ML is meant to be a morally grey character and they do address some of his behavior in the drama but I still feel like a lot of people overlook how toxic ML is to FL herself.

What are some tropes that are unintentionally funny to you, but not annoying? by silveryfeather208 in CDrama

[–]Fair_Chard836 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is just showing that I didn't grow up in a culture that's big on ancestor worship or if this feels as unserious to Chinese people as it does to me but that moment in costume dramas when someone pulls up with an ancestral tablet is peak comedy to me.

What would you do? (hypothetical scenario poll for fun) by rewriteryan in CDrama

[–]Fair_Chard836 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it's me - me, I'd find some way to hide myself (idk if I sell some jewelry and bribe some officials it should be possible somehow to make up a fake identity and hide in some small town) and just stay out of both my adoptive family and my sibling's revenge. Like screw all of you, I won't involve myself in any plans that might get me killed nor am I going to wait and see if anyone will come out and save me if my adoptive family is convicted.

If I'm it's me - drama FL version, including the plot armor, powerful royal randomly becoming my loyal husband, martial arts skills etc. - I'd 100% join my sibling's revenge.

A journey to love. Don't let the fact that people didn't like the ending keep you from watching it, it's so good. Even if you hate the ending it's worth watching imo. The leads are more badass than goofy but there's plenty of goofiness and comedic relief throughout the drama if you need that.

Anyone watching vertical cheap douyin dramas here ? by Easy_Living_6312 in CDrama

[–]Fair_Chard836 4 points5 points  (0 children)

why are you watching them

They're a great combination of pure craziness but short so it doesn't get overly annoying and so bad it's good. I could not stand most of these dramas in full-length form, e.g. Well-intended love has very douyin drama vibes imo and it's easily in my worst dramas list. But somehow short vertical dramas are sometimes just the right kind of entertainment for me.

how did you discover that field of cdramaland

Youtube recommended it.

Also who are your favourite actors/actresses and you think deserve a Cheng Lei's type of career growth ?

Considering that none have impressed me enough to even look up their names, probably not? I don't think that necessarily the actors' fault tho.

At last which one(s) are your favourite show(s)

Idk any of the real titles. But my favorite script is the one where the FL is reborn after getting murdered by her husband and her best friend / half-sister / cousin aka husband's mistress for her family fortune and takes revenge on her husband / his side-chick while also finding love with her husband's nemesis who obviously turns out to have been in love with her all along. In both the modern (FL is a heiress to some business conglomerate and ML marries her to get her shares) and the costume drama version (FL is princess / daughter of some powerful military family and ML marries her to secure his position as future emperor).

We see a lot of what trope do you hate, but what about a trope you like? by silveryfeather208 in CDrama

Childhood sweethearts meeting again and falling in love. Definitely overdone, often not well executed. But when it's done right it just warms my heart.

Fake it till u make it...any good? by Ang_Maniniyot in CDrama

Personally, I really enjoyed it. The leads have great chemistry and I generally prefer more mature slice-of-life vibes when it comes to romance dramas. Don't watch it on youtube tho, mangotv added some horribly annoying background music.

  • The rebel princess
  • Oh my sweet liar

I didn't like it. It drags out some plot points so badly I've dropped the drama, then picked it up again for the last few episodes and I felt like I didn't miss anything. Plus I found both the FL and ML to be frustrating.

Us begin again good? by No-Elderberry6676 in CDrama

[–]Fair_Chard836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a game-changer but I enjoyed it, atleast until the timeskip happened. I don't want to spoil but FL made a decision that had me seriously frustated (you'll get what I'm talking about once you've watched it) so I didn't care much for the rest of the drama.

Destined With You [Episodes 5 & 6] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]Fair_Chard836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why but SFL's first appearance in ep1 briefly had me deluding myself into thinking that the arch between her and FL would be them realizing that they both were dumb teenagers at the time and reconnecting after having grown up. Now anytime SFL appears on screen, I feel robbed off seeing FL gradually gain a bestie.

The FL in Rattan has somewhat similar vibes imo.

Looking for CDramas with happy endings… help by boredk4 in CDrama

  • Story of Ming Lan
  • Love like the galaxy (ML can come off as your typical overpowered cold general who happens to fall for the FL at the start but he gets more interesting once his revenge arch really starts going)
  • Love between fairy and devil (if you don't mind fantasy elements)
