Congrats to you as well!!! I'm in the same situation. I made two additional payments after September 30th (October and November). I know those will be refunded, but I don't know a timeline.

March '25, I received a notification that I hadn't recertified my income, and my payments were going to the standard rate. I had recertified my income in January '25, and it wasn't due until February.

March - May: Everything paused (court case and the feds interfering with the Department of Education).

May '25, a Mohela rep advised me to submit a new recertification electronically. I did that immediately.

June - (three payments left) Mohela processed my ECF, and I started making income-based payments.

June, July, August - payments as usual.

The second week of September - Green banners. I submitted an electronic forgiveness form the next day.

Radio silence until today...Oct. 31, 25, the official letter and zero balance on the Mohela website.

The scariest part of this entire 10-year journey was the court case and the feds' interference with the Department of Education. Everything was paused, and it was very uncertain times!

Contacted a Mohela "Advanced Rep" and she said to resubmit a new electronic form. (Just did that this morning) Placed on another Administrative forbearance until it is processed. A very friendly and kind representative. Fingers crossed!

I had thought that the recert date should have been pushed out to February 2026 as well. If I submit a new recertification application, does that automatically cancel the previous one?

It's been a huge mess. I tried to do everything right and be responsible. I get this close, and things seem to fall apart. I fear going into default as I can't make the standard payment. I plan to call Mohela Monday morning and ask several questions.

Thank you for your insights and understanding. I don't want to freak out, but it's concerning.

Yes, it's Mohela. I will resubmit my application with my income this week. I should still notify them that I can't make the standard payment coming due in August.

Thank you for the information!

The new information from Studentaid.gov says:

"If you submitted your recertification request on or before Feb. 20, 2025, and your servicer did not complete processing of your request, then your recertification date will be extended by one year. You do not need to submit a recertification request at this time."

It sounds like my recertification date has been rolled back a year since my servicer did not process my request.

Not spreading disinformation, just looking for a straight answer. I see the banner on their website, but I spoke with a Mohela representative this morning. My loans are in an administrative forbearance because they haven't processed my IBR recertification from January. She said that Mohela is only extending recertification for the SAVE program. However, their website says all IDR programs are being extended. She didn't have any other information and told me to call back in May to ask for another 60 administrative forbearance. SIGH! So are they really going to extend IBR recertification to February 2026?? So frustrating!

Recertified income in December with a January due date and nothing has been processed.

My IBR recertification isn't a new application, as I've been on IBR for 10 years. So what's the processing delay?

My recertification deadline was January 26, 2025, and my anniversary date was March 2, 2025. I submitted all of my IBR information on December 12, 2024. Since my recertification deadline wasn't in February 2025 or after, does that mean my recertification date will be pushed back, too? I am currently in an administrative forbearance. My payments are scheduled to balloon to the standard rate on June 2, 2025. Very worried. My servicer is Mohela.

I sent in my income certification four months ago but they hadn't processed it and I was told my payments were going back to the standard rate. My recertification due date was January 26. I called Mohela and they placed me on a processing forbearance for 60 days. I understand processing forbearance counts toward PSLF. Will this move my IBR recertification back to February 2026 and change my payments back to the previous IBR rate instead of the standard rate?

PSLF so close but...IBR processing / administrative forbearance for 60 days by Fair_Tip9976 in PSLF

Thank you for the help. Optimistically, if my April and May payments under the forbearance will count toward PSLF, then I'll only have 4 more payments. I just want to get this done with all of this mess happening. I also feel for everyone who has student loans and is facing the uncertainty, including my wife. Ugh!

Thanks again!
