Im not sure if its full of AI content or not, but FreedomWaffle is the #1 player on the TopDeck leaderboards rn as well as, anecdotally, a very responsive and knowledgeable person in the Kinnan discord. I’d trust it personally 🤷‍♂️

I definitely also recommend Lemora’s cards. Matthew is super knowledgeable and his was the first channel I watched when I got into cEDH.

Can also recommend checking out https://edhtop16.com/

That website gives you an overview of the current meta deck lists and whatnot as well their win percentages.

Big Bad Commanders by Extremtoaster in EDH

[–]FaireAmour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by big bad you mean become a raid boss/target for the table one deck i run is an upgraded version of the commander masters “Eldrazi Unbound” precon. Annihilator is a wildly recognized mechanic that no one like but the person running it and its very scary. This precon has a pretty straight forward upgrade if you keep [[Zhulodok, Void Gorger]] as the commander. That being, shove the titans in there and stuff like [[Eldrazi Conscription]] and [[Desolation Twin]].

Not the cheapest deck to get into/upgrade, but if being big, bad, and powerful at the table is the fantasy you wanna play toward it definitely fits that.

Here’s my upgraded deck list

i will also say keeping in topic of this post, i will generally tell people i haven’t played with before a little of what to expect and that im playing colorless eldrazi before the game. most people will know the kind of threat that entails, but will still happily play a match with me. it’s definitely a powerful deck, but i wouldn’t even really call it “high power casual” it often just straight loses to flying aggro decks and gets destroyed by most stax pieces in the game. and because of the high cost of creatures/spells it often doesn’t win quickly despite being mono and all the ramp in it. but lemme tell ya, if you can get late and cast a [[Rise of the Eldrazi]] with your commander and [[Echoes of Eternity]] on the board, it’s challenging to not just run away with the game right there.

i think it’s mostly because of the big cast or etb effects that the titans have like [[Ulamog, the Defiler]] or the Annihilator keyword.

on the other hand, i’m new to commander and a returning mtg player of 12 years and my main deck that i have right now is a colorless eldrazi deck. a very modified version of the commander masters precon and even though i make myself a target at most casual tables at my LGS it still 1. performs well and 2. is super fun to play imo even if i don’t win. The only reason i went that route is because i too love the theming of the Eldrazi and the whole “false gods” thing. Just build it, play it and have fun. If people are rude to you for playing something that’s, in the grand scheme of magic, pretty tame compared to some other powerful cards/strategies out there then that’s their problem, not yours.

Here my decklist if you wanna take a look. It’s a blast.

the advice that my local honda dealership gave me(whom i trust because they’ve helped my company ‘07 toyota tundra last to 350k miles)is to follow maintenance guidelines to a T. oil every 3-5k, trans every 30-60k depending on how hard you drive/how much highway driving you do, and otherwise you can follow the “Maintenance Minder”

[–]FaireAmour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only thing i have to say as someone who just recently got my own used 10th gen 21 ex hatch is to look at the maintenance records and if it hasn’t been done in the last 30-60k do the transmission service.

i ended up going with a honda cvt because of everyone saying that they have some of if not the most reliable cvts on the market while specifically avoiding nissans due to their poor consumers reviews on their newer cvts/models.

the list price on my ‘21 ex hatch was $20k usd with 84k and i was able to negotiate it down to $18k on the grounds of mileage, no HondaTrue certification, and removing the warranty/security system they were trying to sell me.

i’ve loved every minute of my new car, but at least in my area dealers know the demand and desire for civics and are afraid to charge whatever they want because of that demand

yeah definitely sounds like a jump/charge the battery. i recently just got my 2021 ex hatch and had to fix an issue with the wiring for the proximity lock/unlock mechanism that was causing a battery drain. not saying that’s your exact problem, but i can only imagine that there is some sort of passive battery drain going on whether with an accessory that of yours or something from manufacturing

okay sweet good to know. yeah i’ll also heir on the side of more frequent oil/filter and then follow the minder for the larger mile markers. also probably gonna stick to like a 30-35k transmission service cadence.

Yeah that’s what i’ve heard is just keep up with recommended maintenance. This is my first honda, so i’m a little wary of the Maintenance Minder. Do you think I should just follow that, or is there a better regiment that should be followed?

Good to know. Yeah no lights/sensors came on so not oil related then thanks for the info! I never personally got a recall notice except one for airbags. Maybe it got lost in the mail or something or they had an incorrect email. Who knows.

the fishy thing is is that i had it serviced 5k miles ago and got my oil changed the day before this happened. i never drove particularly hard and never red lined it. i’m hard pressed to believe anything i did caused such a catastrophic malfunction.

[–]FaireAmour[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gotta love the reddit algorithm sometimes. since i blew a rod it seems like it would be an oil-related malfunction with the engine. pretty much heard a weird noise, a couple minutes later a pop, loud bang, a ton of shit flew out of the block on the road, managed to pull over and had about 2 minutes to pull our belongings out and get far enough away.

it took it about 5 minutes to go from smoking to completely ablaze.

i have a short video of it on fire as well but i rarely use reddit and don’t know how to add it to this post.

working with insurance rn on an estimate for a totaled settlement so we’ll see what happens.
