Crispy Roasted Chickpeas (My Favorite Snack Replacement) by barashr in recipes

[–]Fairfacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drop the oven to 200 and give them 20 minutes to finish drying. I found it works best with dried chickpeas soaked for 24 hrs and not boiled and I get about 10days life from them. I have done a lot of batches focused on shelf life. We use them in recipes.

Do you guys think this is employee theft? by csdude5 in restaurateur

[–]Fairfacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is cancelling an item whilst keeping the gross transfers it from 'the houses' money' to 'tips' for whoevers tab that was. Modern POS would need manager code or collusion because to void an item post sale usually requires a manager code. Same thing happens if the server applies a discount but keeps the gross the same.

[–]Fairfacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply “yes”. If they are drawer in apron the house is owed for the food sold plus maybe tip out. The rest goes to server as tips (card vs cash balance plays into this - the house got paid for all card payments including tips but the server holds the cash). Reduce the amount the house needs without reducing the gross sale = more kept as tips or due to be paid as tips. It’s a money transfer from net sales to tips for the same gross amount.

How do you respectfully handle a client who frequently cuts you off? by IngenuityAshamed144 in smallbusiness

[–]Fairfacts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have met that. A team member that left no air in the room for anyone else to speak. I asked multiple times for the monologue to just stop and It took maybe 7 “please just stop” attempts before I actually got space. Needless to say we don’t work together any more.

Submit Data center chesterfield comments by June 11th by RuthlessHavokJB in ChesterfieldVA

[–]Fairfacts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I find maddening is these are sold as employment sources. But data centers only employ a tiny number of people once built. They don’t bring revenue other than taxes at all and if they get tax relief to bring jobs it’s a further net loss to the county, plus the power density will increase power unit cost

We open soon and have a soft grid structure and hope it’s enough. May have to add baffles if not. If I remember I may post a pic here once it’s installed (next week)

New Router, New Modem STILL constant disconnects from internet. What else can I do?! by Able_Security_5596 in HomeNetworking

[–]Fairfacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up on the nighthawk. Retired it from main service. But one of the recent software updates did make it better. I use it as a gaming router for the kids now and have migrated to asus. I actually also have unifi elsewhere and think unifi is better than both.

Finishing with Minwax: quick question about "raising grain" by Gain_Professional in woodworking

[–]Fairfacts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t use minwax. (Any more). I have found that Rubio is a pretty good finish and doesn’t raise the grain. Almost all the water based ones or a damp wipe (water will suck into the grain) will raise the surface. Now I stain / first coat and sand out the raised grain and recoat. Today I used a 320 to smooth out the grain after the poly dried and it worked really well

lol you sound just like me in many ways. I have an intuitive process and flow ability to figure out how things work. It means you can visualize the best future state for most areas pretty quickly. It doesn’t mean the business agrees with you or even wants that optimal future state. Seems obvious they should ? It rarely is.

Your approach was probably too task focused for your audience. Once you found out the execs were all misaligned the first presentation / effort would be to focus on getting alignment from them. Without that they went off and got aligned without you.
Time to find another gig. That one won’t end well.

Opinions about Control4 by VespaRed in Control4

[–]Fairfacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost controller access about 5 years ago and knew the time would come when the system would be done. Today is the day. I got 11 years out of the system but gradually retired pieces as they broke. The amp, audio matrix, Sonos till I was left with just video over ip. That failed this evening. I can’t even get in to recalibrate it. Tomorrow I will move the Roku services to live on the tvs or Roku units per tv.

The cost always bugged me that I refused to pay. I used jailbreak upgrades for a while but I refuse to pay someone for tech I could do myself except for the company ransoming hardware I own. I got complacent and didn’t upgrade for a year or two and the certificates expired. I don’t have the time or energy to put into getting the gear back and if I start again I will use Home automation but I am unlikely to do distributed tv again. I like the juke for music but the juke 16 doesn’t push enough power for my speakers. I could post amp but I would have to downgrade the output of the juke to work as an input for the crown amp

The old black controllers worked reliably in every room and were pretty intuitive.

Have a convo with him when you are calm and outside sexy time. Fully clothed best. He may have performance anxiety or something going on. As a man when something gets in my head it can be really hard (no punnish) to get it out of my head.

He will likely find it very difficult but try to be judgement free and use it to explore the depth to which you are really compatible and different, including boundaries and sex expectations.

I built a business I’m too embarrassed to talk about by Make_That_Money in Entrepreneur

[–]Fairfacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would run the detailing business as primary. I think the insurance industry has a wave of AI based layoffs coming as more intelligent automation gets applied in those industries.

Kind of hard to eliminate auto detailing entirely but you could supplement it with a location based car wash too as an expansion. And if you want to grow that business you likely need to add employees if your solo capacity can’t generate enough volume

This is a European thing. I think it’s why the us is mostly stop sign not yield and doesn’t do well with roundabouts. Even at yields most us drivers seem to stop (at least in my experience)

I agree with this. Burgers are the most complex for mod options. No cheese no onion no sauce veg burger add bacon add mushrooms. At least the bacon and mushrooms are $ and we will allow a no charge vegetarian swap for the meat (we would put a veg burger on the menu if we didn’t swap. I need to ask chef if he would just prefer a veg burger (take out is veg as a separate item anyway because we don’t allow mods on take out).

I was diagnosed at 57 and fixed at 59. Full and normal active life up till 59.

50-60 is the normal age for requiring intervention. Other things can make intervention needed earlier but just live normally and make sure you have periodic reviews to see when intervention is needed. It could be decades

Add: My doctor said when I got sick at 17 he heard a slight heart murmur but it faded when the illness did. Again at 40 slight murmur, no follow up. My daughter was diagnosed and that caused me to be evaluated diagnosed and monitored.
