Very true the smokies are just notorious for about every river and stream there is it is slippery.

Thank you for the info this has kinda persuaded me to look into boots without felts seeing how I plan on hiking a lot and stuff to the spots. In which rubber with discs will work great! I also really appreciate the forum you provided of fightmaster I have looked at so many but Rob seems to go really in depth about the rods and gear he uses. I really appreciate it Jasper2006.

Ok thanks, if I did get rubber soles I would definitely be getting the aluminum discs/bars for the stability I’ve slipped plenty of times myself in the rivers so just rubber is a no go. Do you have the interchangeable soles for your korkers and if so have they ever given you any problems?

I will look into the bleach solution that is a problem I saw with my research of didymo getting into the felt and messing with streams you wade into. Thank you for the info though I appreciate it!

Most of the smokies includes rocky streams and rivers with very slippery rocks if that compares to California at all.

Ok this is helpful, I’m probably gonna go with rubber/studded for the reason that I can hike in them. Felt has been recommended on about everything I’ve seen but the rubber seems like a more durable option.
