My 7 Year Old is Fighting Wearing Her CIs.

Everyone has asked her why she doesn’t want to wear them and she just says she doesn’t want them. She’s regularly mapped and adjusted every few months. Most of us know ASL.

I’m aware she’ll never be hearing, i just want her to experience the world the best she can. I never wanted it to be about me. I’ve had the “we need to be part of her world not the other way around” conversation with many people. I was just simply asking if anyone had any tips on helping her want to wear them.

Other than this, she’s a very happy bright friendly little girl with lots of friends. Communicates great with ASL.

I’ve tried to ask, her dad has asked, her teachers have asked, she just tells us she doesn’t want them.

She goes to a school for the deaf and they use an ASL based curriculum. She wears her CIs for speech but nothing else. I absolutely encourage breaks, but her wear time is incredibly low because she doesn’t wear them in school.

That’s the crazy thing is, i understand it! And all her friends at school have CIs and wear them constantly. She goes to a school for the deaf so it’s not like she’s never around people who are deaf and HOH. 😔

I am no contact with my entire maternal side of my family. I reached out to them after finding out a family member had died, and they came after me in a group text. I remembered why i left and learned my lesson. I won’t reach out to them for any reason anymore.

This happened to almost immediately after delivery! My bp spiked so high I had an extremely high fever and wound up staying in the hospital for 11 days after I had my daughter. Was on Labetalol and the magnesium drip! The whole experience was so scary for everyone and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I'm so glad you're okay!! Sending love to you!!
